I am taking delivery of a 2020 4Runner TRD ORP in a few weeks. I am lining up all of the modifications I will be making as soon as it arrives at the dealer. One is/was the Magnusson supercharger. The Magnusson website shows the supercharger available for the 2010-2019 models. I thought the 2020 was the same. I received an email response from Magnusson indicating that the software is different on the 2020 and they do not have an eta for when they will be able to sell a supercharger for the 2020. :(

I have the TRD/Magnusson supercharger on my 2012 Tacoma and it has performed flawlessly for almost 9 years and will have no reservation about putting it on a 4Runner once it is available.

Wonder what’s so different on the 2020’s? Maybe because of all the TSS crap or did they cite any specific issues with 2020 software?

Someone posted in another thread that they are unable to flash the computer on the 2020s. So far.

Only reason I didn't spring for the supercharger was my worry that it'll void my warranty. Kills me 'cause Toyota used to offer it 'till a few years ago.

When I purchased my 2020 ORP, I asked about a supercharger, and they said that as long as it was installed by Toyota or an ASE certified mechanic, warranty would not be affected.

Better get that in writing before the engine blows up. (Not saying it would but you know what I mean.)

Agreed! I would probably only have the dealer do it anyway.. I know, not the best place. As soon as I have a spare 7K lying around I'm all over it!:dancingbacon:

That is what the email response that I received stated. They are still working towards a resolution, however, it is not yet available.

The warranty would not be “voided”, however, if a problem were to arise that could be attributed to a supercharger being installed, the dealer could decline to cover the repair under warranty. For example, any internal engine component (camshaft, crankshaft, bearing, etc.) failure could be declined to be covered under warranty. If you have a good relationship with the dealer, that is unlikely to happen. I say this based on my experience working in a Toyota dealer service department for a number of years.

    It's a different ecu/pcm.

If Magnusson is still working on the 3rd gen Tacoma, 2020-2022 4runner can't be that high of a priority.

Kinda makes me feel good that I can't get it right now because I was close to springing for the supercharger until I added up what I've already spent on my truck this year. Maybe next year! :spending:

    P.S. Shit adds up fast!!

SC was tempting me as well. I don't need it in TX but we're be moving to CO this fall and it sure would be nice to have one there. But my mod budget has been used this year, it seems.

if it is installed by a certified mechanic, it will not void the warranty. If the Super Charger is the cause, Magnusson will cover it.
