I just installed a new fuel pump in my 2005 4.0 4Runner. After refilling the tank with premium fuel, the truck ran fine for 2 hours. After that the engine seems to die out anytime I accelerated at all, whether it be slightly or rapidly. I’m at a loss! I’m going to look to see what my fuel pressure is, but I just can’t seem to find the issue. Also the fuel gauge now does not work.

Was it an aftermarket FP? OEM?

Sounds like whatever you just did caused the problem?

Why did you change the FP?

I have a 2005 4runner V6 with 150,000 miles (original FP). Never changed any parts - except the starters (4) - but she starts and runs like new - day after day.

I have the same issue with my 2005 4.0. I replaced the fuel pump and did exactly what you did after. I’m at a loss and don’t know what to do either. Trying to search here for an answer. My CEL codes that are coming up are the cam sensor and crank sensors.
