Ok, new to the 4Runner and the Toyota market so yes I am dumb on all this technology stuff.

from what I am reading, Entune 3.0 doesn’t come with this but I read somewhere it could be upgraded. But in trying to download apps and all that I am lost.

So, can Entune 3.0 be added to this system?

While Toyota markets the 4Runner as a top tier vehicle it seems to be lacking in the technology area such as Verizon hotspot etc. which bring me to the next question.

can the system be upgraded for the Verizon hotspot?

again, I’m new to all the bells and whistles stuff. This vehicle is replacing an 07 Santa Fe with 397,000 miles and still going strong. Gave it to my son/daughter in law who love it.

    thanks,

    Steve

There is no confirmed way to upgrade pre 2020 models to the new entune system, and you’re not missing out as entune itself is garbages. The Toyota IS a top tier vehicle, just probably not the way you want it. It is a proven reliable platform, may not have all the bells and whistles or get the best MPG, but you’re paying for the proven reliability. I’m sure you can add a hotspot to it as well.

Thanks, so much to learn but don’t get me wrong. I made the right decision in getting the 4RNR. I absolutely love it. Prior to the Santa Fe I had never owned anything but Ford pickups which with a towing ration differential got less mileage the the 4Runner.

So all, I'm happy to report that I took some time to look into this issue, and it's more complicated than it is worth. I had a Nautical Blue TRD ORP that I was attempting to install a 2020 radio in. Firstly, I tried to get some answers from Toyota, and they stated that this model year had 24 different radio variations. There is the JBL, there is the Pioneer, there is the Panasonic... Of course you have your nav and non nav variants. I went to Ebay to purchase one, and upon finally finding one, (that had already been sold), I started doing even more research on the connections.

In addition to having to purchase numerous wiring harness converters between the two radio connectors, I was talking with one of the guys at my dealership and he states that once you end up doing that, you will still lose certain functions. The radio is going to fit physically, however it's not worth the headache of piecing together the harnesses.

With that being said, and about 3 weeks of research, I had decided to sell my 2019 and on Sunday, purchased a Metallic Gray 2020 WITH the radio I wanted. It didn't make sense I hope this helps.

    Cheers,

    Sean
