If I could, it’d be another 78 Turbo Trans Am with T Tops in white. I had one briefly before I met my wife. Girlfriend wrapped it around a light pole.

Another 4Runner. Ive two 2004 and 2013 so it's only natural to get 2022 based not the pattern, right?

Bought my 13 Trail Feb of '19 with 79k miles. Has 104k as of now. I had planned on keeping it for at least ten years, so I'll have it till at least 2029 (unless it rots away first), and at that point it will be 16 years old. I still see a lot of 3rd gens still running around that are older than that, even here in the Northeast, so hopefully it's still kicking at that point. With the mileage I do, it'll be around 300k miles by that time.

After, I don't know. I'm not really a Toyota guy, so I doubt it will be another 4R, unless they do something really cool for gen6. Depends what the fuel situation is at that time. Only Yota I really lust after is an 80.

I'd actually really like another squarebody Chevy in my life, either a K5 Blazer or Suburban. I'll probably get one of those in the meantime. I had a square (K10 shortbed) when I was a kid and I really regret selling it.

They'll probably be making the JL in the late 2020's, so maybe I'll get one of those. Honestly I kind of wish I had one now rather than the 4R, they were just way to much $$ when I was shopping since they were so new.

Those ecoboosts are pretty badass. I test drove one of the 3.5 twin turbo F150s and it had some serious nuts for being lifted on 35's. The new broncos are cool looking but I don't think I would own any ford vehicle that wasn't atleast a 3/4 ton with the exception of a first gen bronco.

It’ll probably be a pretty cool vehicle. Ford has done its research and it promises to be a Jeep killer. It’ll have emotional appeal, and it’ll be able to be modded to death. A winner.

Dang! That commercial makes me want a new Bronco all over again. Yet, i am quite happy with my '19 4Runner. And I would never think of parting ways with the GT500. So I will just admire the new Bronco from afar. I wonder if my wife would be interested in a new Bronco???????

On an emotional level, the new Bronco will easily beat out the 4 Runner. Ford knows what they’re doing, and this vehicle has probably had more market research than any 4x4 in history.

No question about it. Ford has stepped up their game since the mid-2000s as far as good vehicle options. Their trucks are great. The S197 and S550 Mustang platforms have become iconic. I expect the new Bronco to achieve the same.

I am interested in the Bronco, but bummed because it has IFS. I am wondering the biggest tire that can fit without a ton of mods...think 37s on a JL Rubi isn't really a problem. There seems to be a ton of room in the wheel wells of the Bronco so I am hopeful. I am getting to the point where I want larger tires than my current 33s on my 4Runner. If the Bronco can handle 37s off road with minor mods I might just jump in, if not I I'll be in a JL next.

Yeah, JLs and JKs are cool vehicles, I like Jeeps. In our family, two family members have a 2 door JL and a 4 door JK. I’ve driven them both quite a bit. Fun, especially with the top and doors off. But personally, I’d have trouble with the quality of these vehicles after owning Toyota’s. The new Bronco will be better than Jeep, for sure. It couldn’t be worse.

Whats cool about the Bronco (despite having IFS) is that is that electronic front sway bar disconnect appears to be an option. Neat.

Hopefully something with wings. Cessna 180 or 182. Basically the 4runner of airplanes. Or most likely not after the 4runner but to compliment it a Sienna

Probably go be a truck. Maybe a raptor or a tundra. Than after that project or something more of a toy.

Funny you should mention that. I, too, was considering the new Defender. And I decided against it for exactly the same reason as you: reliability in the backcountry. My 4Runner is primarily an overlanding rig. I can only imagine the fun when a Defender breaks down on the trail and requires a $1,500 tow to the nearest small town. Then the question is: Where's the nearest LR dealer, because a small-town mechanic probably isn't going to be able to do much on a new Defender.

That is one real plus for Jeeps: pretty much any decent mechanic can fix them, and parts are easy to source. But Toyotas are a close second, and they don't break down as much to begin with.

I think the future really is electric. The inherent advantages are just too great: environmental; mechanical simplicity, lack of maintenance and longevity; huge and instant torque; lower center of gravity; more flexibility in vehicle design (e.g. trunks and frunks). The limitations are significant but fading fast. Real world range isn't great, but manufacturers have already proven they can get there. Charge times are too long, but even with existing technology it's been shown possible to add a bunch of range in about 20 minutes. Charging stations are too few, but this is on its way to being fixed as well (thanks, Dieselgate). It won't be that many years before we look back and laugh at how we used to fuel our cars with a flammable and toxic liquid that came from dead dinosaurs and had to be exploded thousands of times a minute to exacting tolerances -- etc etc etc

The issue for me is when we get there. I'm not ready to make the jump yet, unless it was for a second or third car. If we're talking about today and money is no object, I'd be all over a Porsche Taycan as an exciting and swanky car to supplement the proven utility, dependability and easy refueling of my 4R. If we're talking several years in the future (10?), I'd hope there'd be something like today's 4R that could go 400 miles on a charge, fill up in a few minutes and do so at about as many locations as now sell gas.

Now, if I had to replace my 4R tomorrow? It would be another 4R.

OldToyotaGuy, I finally listened to "Blue Shelby Mustang" and several other songs of yours. Really, really good. That Shelby song would make a great road trip tune! Applause!
