all depends what you like. I have some chrome/black OEM ones that I’ll be parting with when my sliders arrive if you’re interested.

Wish that I’d gone with sliders on my Tacoma. I have NFSB’s with the steps hanging down. They do offer some protection, and look ok and are handy for getting in & out, but they contact rocks too easily. So far not more than paint scrapes, but one day will be nasty.
My previous Tacoma had no side armor, and one day I found a big sharp lava boulder hiding in some tall cane grass, and it messed up the rocker panel & door & other stuff.
Definitely heading toward hefty sliders for our new T4R, soon as I can figure a decent shipping deal across the big waters.

Do they just need to serve as steps, or do they need to offer protection as well?
I only needed mine to serve as steps, because I don't do the sort of off roading that would necessitate rock sliders. I had the OEM stepboards from the earlier trail editions added a few weeks ago.

Our new 4Runner came with the ORP factory plastic side steps. Don't particularly like them, and will be changing them out. There are so many varieties of solid steel tube ones. The NFABs are fairly inexpensive and the steps are convenient for boarding, and I think they look pretty good. Sliders offer best protection, more expensive, not as convenient as steps. Lunds and others with a big oval tube with a flat area on top are kind of in the middle.

If you only need them as steps then I would get the Predator Bars or something similar.
