So this is my first Manual locking hub 4wheel drive, and I'm wondering how fast I can drive with the hubs locked in bad weather so I'm not having to get out every time I wanna switch to four wheel. I drive 3 miles on the highway in my 7 mile commute to work, the rest is city. Getting our first decent snow tonight and it will be the first time I might get to use the 4wheel. Thanks

So when I'm in 2wheel I can leave the hubs locked and run highway speeds

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I've never even driven a 4wd.
I'll probably get a 1st GEN 4runner and those have manual hubs.
And since all this is new to me, I have to ask the dumb question.

If I can lock the hubs, and still drive in 2wd as fast as I want, what's the point of unlocking the hubs?
