This is what pisses me off. They're fucking over their neighbors and local businesses because they're mad about some shitty cops. Meanwhile, they're distracting everyone from otherwise peaceful protesters

I hope that stupid fucking cop gets his ass kicked in jail. Look at all of this bullshit because of that idiot, and the idiots who stood by and watched.

These aren't protests, not any more. It's just basic looting and vandalism and domestic terrorism.

    Dr. Martin Luther King Jr:

"Let me say as I've always said, and I will always continue to say, that riots are socially destructive and self-defeating. I'm still convinced that nonviolence is the most potent weapon available to oppressed people in their struggle for freedom and justice. I feel that violence will only create more social problems than they will solve. That in a real sense it is impracticable for the Negro to even think of mounting a violent revolution in the United States. So I will continue to condemn riots, and continue to say to my brothers and sisters that this is not the way. And continue to affirm that there is another way.

But at the same time, it is as necessary for me to be as vigorous in condemning the conditions which cause persons to feel that they must engage in riotous activities as it is for me to condemn riots. I think America must see that riots do not develop out of thin air. Certain conditions continue to exist in our society which must be condemned as vigorously as we condemn riots. But in the final analysis, a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it that America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the Negro poor has worsened over the last few years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice, equality, and humanity. And so in a real sense our nation's summers of riots are caused by our nation's winters of delay. And as long as America postpones justice, we stand in the position of having these recurrences of violence and riots over and over again. Social justice and progress are the absolute guarantors of riot prevention."

Not saying that paid agitators don't exist, but isn't it wild?

We're so quick to jump on everything else: why are those rioters destroying businesses? Is George Soros paying them? Why are they dishonoring Floyd's memory like this? Etc, etc.

These people aren't merely mourning a man. They're raging against a system that stands by and watches as black people are murdered in broad daylight. The fact that you're not paying attention until people break windows is actually proving their point.

Go ahead and lend credence to any fringe theory you want, but the point of Dr. King's speech still stands: You can decry building damage, but you need to also decry deep-rooted systemic racism even louder.

It's really awful to watch some of the same companies that donate to and support minority causes get looted & burned to the ground. Target. Whole Foods. AutoZone. And on and on.... I really hope this is antifa, because if it isn't we have even more serious domestic issues.

Also the police HQ and cars are not paid for by the police. They were purchased at taxpayer expense and it will cost the taxpayers significantly to pay for their replacement.

I have no problem with protests. And I support the reason for the protests. But as others have noted looting, destruction and anarchy are not protests. We are at a tipping point and need to find common ground. I always remind folks we are a young country, as global powers go, and have alot at risk here.

I don't think anyone here is suggesting that property is more valuable than human life. The point is that violence and destruction of property only hurt the cause. These protests are consistently overshadowed by the bad behavior of a few people who have no interest in peace or justice. Whatever the motivation is behind it, it only causes more tension.

Try not to jump to conclusions. I'm not saying that I disagree with their reasons for protesting. I'm saying that the violence and stupidity of others detract from what they're trying to accomplish.

I saw numerous interviews where people were condemning the destructive behavior. But the media is going to cover the chaos before they talk about the otherwise peaceful gatherings.

The protesters are by and large NOT the ones doing the looting and destruction. It is a handful of both left and right extremist doing it. Saw a video of a white guy in a gasmask busting out windows, turns out his friends outed him. He's a cop. Plenty of video and pictures out there of protesters trying to stop these idiots and helping those who have lost their stores to the thugs, cleaning up. Don't lump together those who are protesting and the thugs who are both white and black. And now we have video out there of cops randomly shooting and killing innocent people and forcing those who are only sitting on their porch inside or shooting them with rubber bullets. Also having news crews accosted, arrested or shot with rubber bullets for simply reporting. Shameful.

I edited my post to clarify.

I don't, and I'm not. At no point did I blame the protesters for the behavior of the idiots.

The Police are getting rocks, bottles, fireworks thrown at them, so if you are out on your porch, you are a target. They dont know if you are a hostile person or not......I see nothing wrong with that video.......they are lucky it was just paint.........if it was a pepper ball, they would hurting worse.

What games were they playing other than standing on their porch and filming? Is that illegal now?

Probably not illegal. But why put yourself in that position? Stay inside and watch what's going on from there.

When there is a curfew in place it is.

we need to stop vilifying those that are in charge of keeping the peace. There are some very bad, power hungry police. We need to stand up to those that allow them to stay in power.

I heard this FORMER police office had 17 violations. If that is true, what kind of culture is in that police department.

There are people vandalizing police station in Portland Maine. Writing things such as all police are bad, there is no such thing as a good police officer.

this is not the way to bridge the gap, the police officer (sheriff I think) who walked with the protesters. The group of protesters that built a wall to protect the officer who got separated from the others. These are the things we as humans need to do.

The “SYSTEM” has moved incredibly fast to prosecute this officer. The federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies are giving this their undivided attention and they are being extremely vigilant to bring Floyd justice. THERE is no cover up by anyone and even if there was it would have been exposed immediately. I strongly disagree that the “system” is standing by and doing nothing. America’s “system” isn’t imperfect however it is great because no where in the world do we have the freedoms that we have in America...

What this officer did is despicable but he is entitled to his constitutional rights until prove guilty (which he should be). We are a nation of laws NOT mob rule.

I wonder if all those involved with the murder had been arrested, if leadership had decried police violence and said it would addressed, and if leadership had shown more empathy to the victims family, events would have turned out differently? Coulda, woulda, shoulda, we’ll never know. But after 200 years, you’d think we’d be better at this.
