    All,

I have seen several forums about roof racks. I have heard about GOBI being some quality product but the companies processing times are ridiculous. So I started venturing out to other avenues and came across the ARB basket roof rack. Mainly because it doesn’t appear other vendors have a mesh system but instead just a bunch of bars.

Looking at ARB’s website the below rack doesn’t fit the 2020 model. I believe it will fit but wanted to see if there was anyone else out there that has tried. I posted my question to Amazon but I don’t see it and need a response sooner than later.
ARB 3813010M Steel Roof Rack Basket

Also does anyone have an opinion or insightful feedback on another rack with a mesh top?

I have looked at many different websites and here are some of the companies I have checked out:

    - Prinsu
    - KC HiLites
    - Victory (I know this manufacturer is popular right now as I have seen a lot of good things in the forums. But no mesh).

If you all have an alternative as well I am down for feedback. My plans are storing stuff on the roof for trips and such and I don’t want to just stick something on the paint on top of the car like a bag. I would rather have the bag on the roof rack. I appreciate your feedback and thank you for your time on this.

***Btw this is my first post on 4runners.com so I am sorry if I missed something. Just bought my first 4Runner last week.

Welcome! Sadly I'm not going to be much help with the mesh rack you're looking for (I'd trust others on here much more).
I have a SmittyBilt Defender rack, but it just has 1" tube bars, not mesh.

Another alternative I'd pose to you is factory crossbars with something like a Yakima Skybox attached. Not sure if that fits your "like a bag" category.

Do you have the factory roof rails and/or crossbars? You could consider mounting just about anything to those.

    Check out BajaRack.

    https://www.bajarack.com/store/4Runner-G5-c27891492

They are also doing a sale until the end of May, code MD15 for 15% off.

This is what i was looking at getting before I bought mine. Got a venture that came with a Yakima rack instead though.

I have yet to go the rack route. Figure if i need more then a few LFD cross bars on the stock rails, i will pick up a cheap Rola. One thing to keep in mind is, needing/ wanting to drill extra holes in the roof. Most companies look like they're moving away from this, but something to keep in mind.

yeah I don’t want to do any drilling on my new car. We have a family of 6 and we all cram into the 4Runner and have no room left for storage. Wanted the Sequioa but didn’t like that it was so wide and $20k more than the 4runner

You're right about that. I ordered in January and 4 months and 10 days to get mine. That's unacceptable to most who are looking to get one.
That being said it is good quality.

Victory racks looks super nice in person

    Welcome to the forum!

I have also been looking at Bajarack, and I believe their full rack does NOT require any drilling.

Prinsu has a no-drill option as well, but I see you've already looked at them.

    Good luck with your search!

Rack is pretty good, dont plan on replacing it any time soon.

Yakima makes mounts for Hilift jacks and shovels/axes specifically for the rack we have. They also have an 22" extension if you need more room up there, not sure if that'd interfere with my sunroof though. Haven't had the chance to go out there and measure it.

They aren't mesh but I have been looking at the Prinsu ($900+) rack and the Southern Style Offroad ($1100+) rack. They are both modular and the length of the roof. I plan to get a rooftop tent and lights on them eventually which is why I was going that direction. I've heard great things about the Prinsu rack but not a lot about the SSO rack. One guy I talked to said he ordered his Prinsu with the noise reducing trim for it. He said it hardly makes any noise while unloaded.

Anyone here have feedback on the SSO rack???

Welcome, Grant! You'll get lots of opinions here! I've got the LFD 3/4 rack and it's perfect for my needs. No drilling. $525 plus shipping for steel, AL is a little more expensive. They have 7/8 and full length too. Cheaper than Prinsu and SSO, and much cheaper than Gobi. I think it was a month or so from ordering till it was delivered. Simple, easy to install, and strong with a lot of mount points for stuff. Looks pretty good too. Not affiliated in any way, just a happy customer.

Welcome! I’m not sure why you don’t like the cross bar style but the advantage of them is that they have slots that enable all kinds of accessories to be mounted all over the surface. I guess a grid surface can work like that too but the slots are convenient for bolts. Also, you can get a car wash mitt in there if you ever have to wash your roof
