There are a couple of threads on dashcam installation, but no one has mentioned installing both front- and rear-facing dashcams. Has anyone found a good placement for the rear-facing camera?

I'm transferring my BlackVue DR650S from a sedan where the rear camera usually sticks to the rear window. With the 4Runner's power rear window, that's not an option. I need another way to install the rear camera.

Has anyone else solved this problem?

If you're unfamiliar with dashcam installations, it's generally done with 3M tape on a flat surface with the power cord hidden in the headliner. I don't see any good flat surfaces in the rear with good options for hiding the cord. Has anyone else found a good creative solution?

It's a great setup. Took a while to run the rear camera wire. But in the end looks great.

This is the Momento M4 rear camera … the shop that installed just drilled a hole in the camera plastic base and used existing oem tab to secure. Been holding up great and can remove anytime and no-one would be the wiser.

I purchased the VanTrue T2 dashcam and so far its been decent, good enough to keep. I have it connected through the ODB as this cam has 24/7 recording when it detects motion.

I'd like to get another cam for the back to record what is going on behind the vehicle, mainly for getting rear-ended while driving or while parked if anyone backs into the vehicle. However, for this to happen, it will need to have power when the vehicle is off.

I cant run an additional camera to the ODB as its already in use. So my questions:

    1) how can i use the USB in the rear to power the came when the car is off?
    2) are there other options to keep a cam powered 24/7?

    2019 Limited 4Runner.

I have a Rexing V1P in my T4R which is hardwired to the battery so it is always recording. It doesn't draw so much power that I've had an issue with a dead battery, and have been running this setup for about a year so far. I installed a Rexing V1LG in my folks vehicle which has a rear facing camera. Wired it the same way, so it's always recording front and rear, and they haven't had issues with a dead battery for the 2ish years it's been installed. To answer your question about the USB port being powered while the vehicle is off, it would have to be overridden in order to function as such. I'm sure you could do it, but it might be easier to just run a live wire to the rear and either hardwire the cam, or create an always live port that you could tie into.

Did you have to drill into the headliner to install? Would love to know where you purchased the mounting bracket and how you wired the rear camera.
