I got the 50 - 60 MPH shake on my 2016 4Runner with Wildpeaks, but never a problem on my Tacoma. My current 4Runner has BFG K02s and has the 50 - 60 shake too. It's a fairly common issue, and annoying. The Terra Grappler G2s are really loud tires but balance well and didn't shake the wheel.

Stinks that yours had issues! I read about a year back the older wildpeaks had issues but was corrected awhile back with a production change. Is it possible your shop got them from someone's old stock? Just curious

Yeah I’m not sure ForRun. Maybe the tires were older. Did not ask them. I deal with them all the time and never had a issues with tire balance on my Tacoma’s or 4runner. I know the wheels should not make a difference. Maybe the tire did not work good with the 8.5 inch wheel. The Pro wheels are 7inch. Should not have mattered. The tires were balanced. 3 different sets for the front and same issue.

Curious question anyone have issues getting the Falken tires balanced on the Pro wheels? With stock size tires. Just normal balancing and not road forced. Makes me wonder if the tires balance better on the 7 inch wheel instead of the 8.5 inch wheel.

I've had them on pro and trail rims without issues. I believe the trails are 7.5"?

Was washing my 4Runner yesterday and noted a bunch of stick on weights on my rims.
I bought my Falken AT3W's from Discount Tire. I figure they know what they are doing when it comes to installing tires as that's all they do.

I was more commenting RusPro17's post in regards to balancing Falkens.
This my 2nd set of Falken Wildpeaks I've had Discount Tire put on. Have them on my Frontier and 4Runner.

Previously had Walmart put a set of BFG AT KO-1's on my Frontier. Their tire guy was all flustered that I was putting a bigger tire on than what was recommended.

I like how your tire shop took the time to Index the Yellow Dot on the sidewall with the valve stem. That’s important for a good Balance.
I’m thinking about going with this size with the F5 Wheels. Thanks.

Read up on my post. Tried 3sets all the same issue. Called Falken they recommended to switch to a different tire.

like a completely different brand of tire or a different model of theirs? What did you end up with?

I JUST went through this crap with my old 01' Taco. I was "testing" the Falkens in anticipation of my 2016 Trail needing new shoes as well. Discount Tire could not get the Falkens to balance and after the second time trying, they just asked me if I had another brand in mind. I went with the Cooper AT3 4S. They are just as aggressive tread-wise, but not as aggressive looking sidewall. Too bad, because the Falkens looked great and they got me looking over my shoulder admiring the truck much more!

As far as my up-coming choice on the 4Runner tires, I am zeroing in on the new Toyo Open Country ATIII.

Put my Nitto’s back on. My opinion you should not have to have a tire road forced balanced to get a tire correctly. It’s definitely the Falken tires do not agree with the 4runner. It’s a hit or miss with all the posts you read up on.

Yes, but as I said they went on the Taco as I am testing waters on what tire goes on the 4R.

I'm being picky about the 4R tires because they will be going in these babies...

How do you like the Coopers? With all these negative reviews with balancing the falkens, I’m torn between taking the risk or going for the coopers AT3 4S or the Toyo AT3. Both are within a good price range and seem to have positive reviews all around. The only negative I’ve heard is that their sidewalks aren’t as aggressive as falkens.

I had no issues with the balancing of the Falken Wildpeaks on my 4R. No vibrations at any speed. 265/70-17.

I see you are in ABQ as well. Which shop did you get your tires from and balanced at? This gives me some hope I can still get the falkens because I do love how they look and other than the balancing issue I keep hearing, they seem to be a great AT tire.

Discount Tire on Montgomery & I-25. I've used them for years. They gave me a decent trade-in for my stock Dunlops w/3k miles on them, which helped with the Falken purchase.

So far, zero complaints. I live in FL, so an AT with good rain manners is a must. That is the reason I don't mess it the super popular BFG's as they always gave me confidence issues in the rain. The Wildpeaks were fantastic in the week of rain I owned them, but the balance was the nail in the coffin. The Coppers are super so far, balanced nice and great rain manners. Highly regarded, but not the sidewall "looker" many are attracted to. Go Toyo AT3 if the look and performance is important.

On those Falkens there is a yellow paint mark on the sidewall, like a small bingo stamp. That is the lightest part of the tire, marked by the manufacturer. It is meant to be lined up with the heaviest part of the rim which is the valve stem area. I'm not sure if this applied with the whole road force type balancers, but see if they will do this for you. My Falkens that did not work out were not lined up like this, and I even questioned it and was told it wasn't necessary when going the road force route. I'm not quite convinced. Seems awful fishy to me that all the areas that got weights were at or very close to that lighter part of the tire (the yellow mark)...

I have wildpeaks on my SCS wheels and they have been a nightmare to balance. I am so disappointed. One wheel is using 16.5 oz of weight PLUS 6.5 of balancing beads. 2 wheels are using 9oz of weight plus the balancing beads. This is with the yellow on the valve stem and yes my steering wheel still shames at 55.

I have a friend that just put the wildpeaks on his Chevy Suburban and they vibrate at 50-60 mph' had them road force balance. He's taken them back twice so far. Said he just going to get a different tire.
