Whats the biggest tires I can go with the stock rims and no lift? Currently its a 30" tire.
What's the biggest tire size before you have to regear? I'd like to run 33"

I see no one has posted a reply to this and it is an old thread. I am going to hijack.

I am looking for a wheel set that is close to stock that will fit a Gen 1 used as a daily driver. Do wheel sets from later Gen 4Runners and Tacoma Trucks fit the Gen 1? What is the Bolt Pattern and Offset etc...

    Thanks.

The largest tire you can run on a 1st Gen without a lift is a 33/10.5 on the stock 15x6" wheels. I've been running this setup for years. Just do the 'pinch-weld mod'. Pretty much any toyota rim with the 6 on 5.5" bolt circle will work. 15" IFS wheels will not work on a SFA truck. IFS rims have too much backspace and will contact the tierods. IMG_0350.jpg

Old thread, I know. Created an account to revive it! haha.

Just picked up an 84 4unner out of the desert. Needing to replace the IFS SR5 wheels the last owner put on. Whats the wheel dimensions I need for a SFA, looking for that backspacing number.

I have the stock SR5 chrome rims with what I think are OEM 235/75R15. Can I go to the 31/10.5 15 tires on these rims?
