Negotiate via email. Email several dealerships. Focus on the OTD price. I haven’t negotiated in person for any of my last 3 vehicles including my 4Runner.

Hold out for what you want. "No" will be a word that the dealer hears a lot.
My Wife and I knew what we wanted, so we shopped around for the right dealer. And it only came down to the color we wanted.
We traded in her Rav and my Tacoma too.

We are trading my tundra and her Jeep. Trying. To do a deal on rav 4 for her and 4Runner for me. I have been haggling with my salesmen for 3 days, been to other dealer, looked at others and I got them worn down enough I think if they can make
Our numbers work we will both be driving home in them tonight. But I already told him if he can’t make it work over the phone I won’t come up there and I’ll move on.

Hold out till you get what you want. As long as this pandemic keeps going on there not selling vehicles. You should wait till the end of the month to get your best deal if you can.

A lot of the inventory for tacomas and 4runners is starting to dry up. Dealers may not be as desperate. On tacomaworld, most are getting 10-12 percent off msrp before rebate on tacomas. This is consistent with pre covid prices.
