    Hey everyone,

Looking to pick some seasoned homeowners brain. I recently bought my first house and I'm slowly cleaning up the somewhat neglected yard.

In the back there is an A/C unit that is right off my back patio. It's noisy and kinda ugly and makes for sitting in the back and grilling kind of annoying. I know I can't move the unit, but I want to at least hide it. My idea is to lay down some landscaping rocks and fake bushes but I haven't the slightest on what the proper order of operations is.

I know (or think haha) I need to dig, lay a sublayer of that weed tarp stuff for weed mitigation, then lay gravel, then the pretty rocks and I should be good. Is this correct? Here's a picture of the area.

Thanks in advance for any guidance, products or ideas!

If it is noisy, the bushes won't help much. You need a wall with the bushes hiding the wall. Put the wall up then rocks and get real bushes not fake ones and just keep them trimmed or you are artistic, paint the wall. 1 other thing, don't let those other bushes get too close to your unit. It needs to breathe.

Proper order is rocks before bushes. Looks great where are the asylum guards?

I had one like that right outside the bedroom. Bought a new Trane system and its quiet as a mouse. Go with a high Seer rating.

Thanks for the input guys. A new unit isn't in the cards right now, but will definitely be something I keep in mind. I guess my unit is kinda old.

I think I may do a short wall and then put bushes in front. That should solve my needs in the short term. Thanks!
