    Hello everyone,

I just picked up a 2018 4Runner today! Awesome and great looking vehicle. Can’t wait til I start modding!!

anyways, I was driving at night and noticed my passenger side headlight was very off. Pointing to the ground. I came back home and adjusted to level as the driver side but noticed that the beam pattern was bit off...

Any idea what’s going on? Is it the housing? The bulb??

Most likely your bulb is not clocked correctly in the projector housing. Just take it out and reinstall in the correct orientation.

I'd double check the Bulb, make sure it is fully installed and not half-way, it looks almost like your H11 Low beam bulb isn't fully locked into the Housing!

hi! So sorry I’ve been super busy didn’t check back with the forum.

yes and no. The beam pattern is not as clear still. I know it’s not aligned yet. But I’m wondering why the beam is not straight line like the driver side... I’m thinking whatever the part that holds the light is not set correctly. I saw a noticeable gap in the housing to the part where it’s holding the bulb ( I wish I took a picture of it...)

also, like everyone here said when I checked the bulb, it was lose and I tighten it back. I also installed LED lights and made sure it was installed properly aligning the light the way it should be. But the result from halogen and led is the same -scattered beam pattern.

Now, this is an interesting thread. NOT a common problem. Let’s get this one figured out for the OP. I’m thinking...

Hmmm.... So the bulb is loose in the Housing? As in it'll spin freely? Check to make sure the O-Ring didn't come off or break. H11 bulbs have a Prominent O-Ring that sits right around the Bulb collar. If it is still there, try taking another similar sized O-Ring and slip it onto the H11 you're installing, essentially doubling them up. This tends to eat up a fair amount of play!

Any chance you could drop some photos of the bulb? :) We'll figure this one out!

What happens if you swap the bulbs side to side?

Hello.. I solved the issue by going back to the dealership and exchanging the car.. same color same year and model. But better headlight and less dings on the car

Funny because you’re actually right about the damage. There was a damage reported on that side and I’m guessing they replaced it with one of those cheap aftermarket headlight. Because when I first drove the car, the beam was all the way down. Also I was digging more on the passenger side and saw zip ties... Never buying a car again from Hertz car sales...

    Stock....for now
    Digging up an old thread...

I recently purchased a 2013 4Runner Limited. The alignment was off, pulling to the right and the steering wheel was also tilting to the right. I happened to see my headlights one night on the garage door and they were not aligned. It got me wondering if there has been any kind of damage from the previous owner (I am the second owner). I took it to an alignment shop today and they corrected the problems with the alignment and steering wheel. It drives much better now. I asked them to check for any kind of damage and they could not find any.

Any other reason my headlights would be aligned like this (see picture)?

That looks like it’s just out of align. You can put a screw driver in one of the holes and adjust it. There’s a lot of good threads on here on how to align it.
In my case, you can see how scattered the beam pattern is. But yours looks like its just out of aligned. And maybe the headlight was damaged if you can’t find any signs of body damage.

Could also be the bulb isn’t inserted correctly. Check that first. Take it out of the housing and screw it back in.

Yeah, OP my first thought after your adjustment was that the car could have been involved in an accident. Glad you got it all sorted though.

    Cheers,

    Sean
