Long Travel Rear End

    Alright guys I need some advice here. I recently installed an Elocker to my '96 and had clearance issues with the sway bar so naturally, I removed the sway bar. The issue I am having now is that I have too much downtravel for my springs to handle and they just fall out when the wheel drops too far. I already have the extended brake lines and fully adjustable end links and was always planning on building this thing to have tons of flex.

    BUT I cannot figure out what rear spring setup to go with. It seems like there is literally nothing on the planet built for our rigs that is longer than 3" of lift and can take this amount of down travel without falling out!?

    Just to give more info, I plan on building a long travel kit for this rig soon and the front end is pretty easy (as in there is info everywhere) but I cannot find anything on the rear end!

    Thanks Brett, I am toying with that option too. I need to take a look at the land cruiser coils that some guys run and see if they are actually longer than the setup that I have. I am also considering tac welding the spring to the axel and doing the same with the bump stop to the bucket. I know a lot of jeep guys have this issue and use retaining clips for their springs (I called dozens of shops and no one has anything for these 3rd gens).

    17" rear lift. 0" front lift.
    I tell you what, son. Whatcha need to do is weld a few coils on top of one another and then add some big ass spacers on top of them.

    You'll be riding ass high in no time, like the good lord intended.

    Starting a new trend? My buddy had a 66' Mustang back in the day that rode like that. He couldn't tell when lights turned green until he looked out the window.

    No trends here amigo. Ive been doin this sort of thing since I was knee high to a toothless hooker. My grandpappy taught me the ways.

    Im pretty sure he got the idea from the bible. Theres some verse somewhere that says "Thall shall lift the ass end of your rig high into the heavens to please thy lord, just like yur momma used to do at all them kentucky keggers." Pretty sure its in the old testament.

    I drive my rig down the main street in town and it looks hotter than my sister wearin a mini skirt on sunday.

    digging this thread back up….does that rear Daystar spacer KT09127BK
    fit 5th gens? I’m getting mixed reviews online.

    So to anyone reading this thread based on the subject title alone, there are 2 major inhibitors that prevent long travel that weren't mentioned -

    1. The stock fuel tank makes contact with the drive shaft. Anyone that hasn't experienced this is still dealing with mid-travel numbers.

    2. With the factory geometry, the rear upper links will bind with massive travel based on the length of the arms and where they are mounted.

    An F150 fuel tank relocation mod, and custom 4 link, will net you tons more travel than the factory setup ever will.
