    Greetings and salutations,lol
I’m new here and just got my first 1st Gen 4Runner! I’ve always wanted one and recent life circumstances let it happen. I look forward to hanging out here with you guys and helping where I can.

Now, about me new rig! It’s an 89 SR5 3.0. Got some lift on it(not sure how much) with 32”s rolling under it. Previous owner put some money into this thing and I got a heck of a deal! This is what’s was done to it before I took ownership: new head gaskets, heads reworked by machine shop, long tube headers (gotta add an O2 sensor back to it), water pump, thermostat, timing belt (w/tensioner & idler), clutch, clutch slave cyl, clutch master cyl, deleted intake resonator (shoddy but functional lol), some used chrome wheels, and practically new tires. Think it needs fuel filter, spark plugs, and possibly a fuel tank, nothing major bad wrong.
Now it’s my turn for customizing

And a funny story, the guy I bought it from told me he had quit driving it and shortly after that, he noticed coolant smell in exhaust, this was after his major repairs. He also had added coolant because was low. So when he had been asking $3k for it originally and had dropped his price to $2k, I figured that was a fair price and paid. It did smoke that nice white fluffy cloud when I cranked it, and upon warmup, it would disappear. The truck was showing empty and he told me of a gas station less than a mile down the road, I thanked him, hopped in and off I went. Boy did it run rough, lil power on takeoff, no power in powerband. Got about 5 gallons of gas added some BG 44k and headed home. It faired ok but had to really stay in it to maintain speed of 45-55mph, 4th year was almost useless (lil power) and 5th gear was no mans land. I got home (30 min drive) and no smoke, smelled exhaust and I tried and tried to smell coolant and all I got was watery eyes and a burning nose from unspent fuel. I added 1 can of B12 Chemtool, 2 bottles of STP fuel treatment and then about 6hrs idling smoke is almost nonexistent. The longer it ran, the better it got. Still a lil puff on cold start so That put me back to near empty so then half big bottle of sea foam and 7 gallons of 93 ethanol free gas and after driving for two days...no more smoke! Still lacking a lil power in upper powerband in high gear, but I can actually keep up with traffic now lol. Got a fuel filter and some spark plugs to put in it and will go from there. Soo, Looooong story short....no blown headgaskets! Not once have I smelled or seen coolant. (Matter of fact no leaks under the engine/trans at all, but is small fuel leak, afraid need new tank) I believe the low coolant level is due to normal expansion without having a reservoir in place. So anyway, sorry for the long intro, but had to share!
