Headlights will not work in auto position even when it’s dark outside. They work in the manual position. What could be the problem?

    1. Have they ever worked in auto?
    2. Take a picture of your dash.
    3. Take a picture of your switch.

I can find no mention of auto lights on a 4th gen. maybe I’m looking over it though. If you have a photo sensor on the dash then you must have one maybe it is faulty.

Pretty sure the 4th gen Limited I test drove before getting my sport had auto headlights. It's one of the features I was bummed about not getting when I lost out on that Limited.

Afaik, it's only auto off, not auto on in 4th gens. I think 5th gens have auto on

There is a mod for those without it...

The light switch has 3 positions
    1. Parking Lights.
    2. Headlights.
    3. I thought was auto. What is it if it’s not auto?

It has 3 positions, when I turn it all the way forward it’s like turning the lights off again.

Sounds like your light sensor is out.
    Again. Not a Toyota expert...
