Hey all, due to current state of affairs, I found myself with some time off work so I'm debating doing a project. My garage floor is ugly so I've been thinking about putting lipstick on that pig.

Does anybody have any experience with painting a garage floor? Products used? Tips and tricks?

I've dabbled on homedepot's website looking at the rust oleum kits that are around 125 bucks but have no experience whatsoever. I'm looking for a "forever" solution that will last, I'd rather pay more to paint it and forget it. Thanks in advance!

Picture of the canvas because adults like pictures haha

I did a Rustoleum kit some years back. It worked pretty well, but you really really have to prep the floor well. I’ve seen a local (to me) company that uses something a bit more high tech. I really want to call them and see what they get for a floor. They’ve got much larger prep machinery than I have!

It’s a lot of prep work, then deciding which coating will work best. I know some folks that have issues with hot tire pickup for a garage that is used for their daily drivers sees a lot of traffic.

If you want to overwhelm yourself with options and discussion, head over to garagejournal.com.

I'm not sure how munged up your floor can be before refinishing. Mine is beyond hope. I've seen guys do the floor grinding before coloring. It looks like a big floor buffer but has diamond points that grind up however deep you need to go. They're somewhat adjustable. THAT would give you a good start at a forever floor.

The more I read and learn, the more I'm leaning towards professionals haha. The margin for error seems to be high on this one.
