I see quite a few 4runners in the land of enchantment. Anybody from NM on here?

    I'll start it off.

I live in Grants, work in Prewitt, and spend a lot of time in Albuquerque.

Hi, live in Albuquerque. Have a 2nd gen. 4Runner that needs a lot of suspension work. Does anyone know a good, reasonable machanic in the ABQ area.

Thanks for moving my thread, and for mentioning it here. I wasn't aware of the NM thread.

ABQ here, got my 2019 OR last September, after 30 or so years of Jeeps and Toyota trucks.

I know of a couple of repair shops I would trust, just no suspension installation places.

I did find a shop within walking distance of work that could do the install, but cost is pretty high...

Just joined the forum, live in Luna County, previously ran Blazers, S trucks and Discos. Looking forward to using my 4runner. Been riding around the Florida's, Dragon's Ridge and the canyon, out in the BLM areas, and up in the Pinos and Gila areas.

There is an easy by-pass around the most difficult section known as the waterfalls (3.88 miles from beginning) so I would rate it an easy to slightly moderate trail. The trail is about an hour south of ABQ. If your looking for something in the mountains, go through Placitas I25 to the 165. The 165 turns into a dirt road that goes up the backside of the mountain and will end up by the Sandia ski area. It’s really easy and mostly can be done in 2wheel drive.

Retired in Placitas a year ago. Just bought a 2021 Off Road. Anxious to find some beginner trails to try out.

Take the 165 up the back side of Sandia Peak, very easy road, fun after a fresh snowfall. There are some good easy road right by you. There is a site called trailsoffroad.com it shows you a bunch of easy and moderate road near you.

Thanks! I've actually been on that road up to the Man Cave. There is also a Forest Loop Road just down the street (165) but I think it's just a dirt road. I'll check it out though

The Cedro peak trails in Tijeras are pretty easy and fun too. More rocky terrain so make sure you deflate your tires

The forest loop trail isn’t really anything. It’s just a loop that goes through the sagebrush near the base of the mountains. Might be fun after a ran to play in the mud, but otherwise meh.
