    Hi fellas,

I bought a 2004 V8 SR5 this weekend with 185k miles. It was pretty cheap, only $3500, but it needs some love before I can fully trust it.

The engine and transmission seem pretty strong. I put it 4lo and it seems to work fine. However, I found 2 issues. First one, when I try to lock the transfer case for 50/50 power, I hear a pretty loud grinding noise combined with an electrical-motor-like noise. And of course, I don't get a light on the dash showing the locked Tcase. It doesn't even flash.

Like I said, this car needs a lot of love, so I don't even know if the light on the dash is working, but I'm more worried about diagnosing the noise first. Has anyone heard that or can give me any clues?

The second issue is the hill descent button. When I press it, I get a flashing icon on the dash, but I didn't see any difference in the way the car drives and I don't know if the light should be still instead of flashing.

Thanks for all the info you can provide!

    Thanks for the answer!

Right, but does the light flashing mean something? or does it always flash?
