Been looking at tints for same reason .. uv protection and keep interior looking pristine. Any pics on how yours came out and /or recommendations on best brand of tint ?

Nice! .. looks sharp. Any problems at all or something you'd do different ? Also, what's a fair pricepoint for premium job … want to avoid the cheap stuff and crappy results 3-5 yrs later.

Nope make sure ask for ceramic its worth the extra money you pay i also really like the sunshade or eye brow tint i think a good shop will charge you $400-500 with life time warranty

Just got mine tinted out. 3M color stable film. 20% all around on top of my tinted glass. Came out to 14% in the front and 7% in the rear.

Thanks for the pics! I have a 2020 TRDORP in gray, and I am getting tint done on Friday. I am going with 20% on the front, but I am trying to decide the best option for the back. I really want an all around match, or as close as I can get. What do I need to put over the rear privacy glass that came in at 35%?

I had mine tinted with Ceramic... 40% fronts, 30% rears and third windows, 40% back... One thing I dislike with he ceramic tint, is they have a greenish tint.

Right now I have my tint matching the front and back, but within the next few weeks I'll be tinting my windshield as well... Light, 50-70%. I'll post pics when done.

I did the drivers, passenger and back window. I asked for them to match the factory dipped/tint. I did ceramic. Figured I would post some different angles for people who are interested in getting their windows tinted. I looked at this post before I did mine and it was helpful.118824116_312553973411249_2554281635098606225_n.jpg 118820044_365722008162716_8847193954140998445_n.jpg 118787365_404868007147365_2467637023951016605_n.jpg 118597902_336458724163713_2387385444618855487_n.jpg 118824247_787629118445161_5611675643775118878_n.jpg 118878943_1009729802808906_8603278103647281127_n.jpg

Did ceramic 20 percent front and 20 percent rear (which comes out to 5 percent or limo in the rear when it goes over the privacy glass)

    Love that green ^^^

Did 15 (or maybe it's technically 18?) up front, and he put 35 over everything else besides windshield. Matched nearly perfect, maybe the rear is ever so slightly darker but that's ok.

I live in NJ, and recently purchased a 2007 Sport edition that spent it's life in Maryland. I bought it at a small NJ used car dealer. This vehicle has "Rear Privacy Glass Clr-Kyd" as stated on the Toyota site specification details for this VIN, but it also has a basic tint on the windshield and front seat windows. Now this has me worried, because this is the NJ law:

A person shall not drive a motor vehicle with any tinted material or film on the windshield or front side windows unless the material or film is: (1) applied by the motor vehicle manufacturer prior to the sale of the vehicle and the tinted material and film permits a light transmittance of less than 70 percent, except as applied to the top six inches of the windshield ......etc, etc.

I didn't realize this before I purchased it, so my question is; do 4runners come from the factory with a basic tint to the windshield and front seat windows? If not, I could be subject to $100 fine and have to do something about it. I admit also, I don't understand why NJ says "tinted material of film". That would seem to eliminate a tint within the glass at time of manufacture. I also don't understand the statement "and the tinted film permits a light transmittance of less than 70 percent". That seems backwards, like they should be saying "and the tinted film permits a light transmittance of at least 70 percent". I mean, if you disallow a tint, why would you allow total darkness?

To answer your questions; I believe the front windows have some type of glare film or the like, and have privacy "smoked" glass on the rears. I don't believe what is on the front has any type of light blocking properties, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

NJ tint laws by my understanding state you can't have anything on the front windows or windshield, but the back windows are fair game. I don't know if you're concerned about the tint but I will say that you will pass inspection with it, but you may or may not get hassled. I have found that it seems to be based solely on the cop/town/locale. My town doesn't seem to give a shit about it as do other towns around here (I swear almost a third of the cars I see are tinted). Where I used to live in a more rural-ISH area, they seemed to be far more concerned about it.

If you're concerned, just pull it off the windshield and front windows and call it a day. Congrats on the new purchase!

Thanks, I never thought of that, because it looks so ingrained into the glass, not something you can peel off. But, we'll see.

Well I mean if it is FILM, sure peel it off. Glass that is dipped from the OEM, I don't think that's reversible.

I've sold cars where buyers ended up pulling off the tint; heat gun and patience. OR hair dryer and more patience.

This is how it looks now. I might just get away with it, because I see other cars with a similar front tint. When you say "dipped by the OEM", that is okay per the state in my reading of the law.

    Thanks for the pic.

IF you got pulled over for that in NJ... then I don't even know.

To me that looks 100% factory, MAYBE darker on the rear?
