Mpgs are generally a little better with the SC once you learn to keep your foot out of it.

Have requested a quote via email from the dealer... and since I just extended my care policy; I received a 15% discount coupon for parts purchases (Hello SC!!!)

Hey Narbeh, which shop/dealer did you get it installed in?

Did you get a chance to tune it at the Magnusson shop yet?

If it hasn’t been said already the Magnuson Warranty is crap if you actually read it.

Normal power train warranty is what, 5 year / 60,000 miles?

For the Magnuson Limited Powertrain Warranty to go into effect the vehicle has to be under 3 year 36,000 miles for the warranty. The reason is because their warranty expires 3 years from the original in service date or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Meaning if you put the supercharger on at 30,000 miles, Magnuson will give you a 6,000 miles of powertrain warranty - Toyota is not going to warranty a powertrain failure with a supercharger added so all in all if you supercharge it you’re losing 2 years and 24,000 miles of powertrain warranty.

Their trans coverage is capped at $2500, rear axle coverage is capped at $1500, you have to have all factory recommended maintenances performed, and their list of things that void the warranty are:
“ABUSE RELATED TO OVERLOADING, OVERDRIVING, PCM RECALIBRATION, MISUSE, NEGLIGENCE, ROAD CONDITIONS, UNAPPROVED TIRE SIZE AND/OR TIRE COMPOUND, AND OTHER NON MAGNUSON PRODUCTS, LLC. APPROVED MODIFICATIONS. MAGNUSON PRODUCTS, LLC. APPROVED MODIFICATIONS ARE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: EXHAUST MODIFICATIONS BEYOND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER (REFERRED TO AS CAT-BACK OR POST CAT); WHEEL AND TIRE MODIFICATIONS THAT ARE WITHIN FIFTEEN PERCENT (15%) OF OEM OR FACTORY EQUIPPED SIZE (MODIFIED TIRES ARE ONLY ALLOWABLE IF THEY ARE ONE HUNDRED PERCENT (100%) STREET COMPOUND).

ANY DAMAGES TO THE VEHICLE AND/OR MAGNUSON PRODUCTS, LLC SUPERCHARGER SYSTEM DURING THE INSTALLATION PROCEDURE, PARTICIPATING IN OR PREPARTION OF THE VEHICLE FOR OFF-ROAD AND/OR RACING (ON A TRACK OR OTHERWISE), FIRES, FLOOD, RIOTS, ACTS OF WAR OR TERRORISM, THEFT, VANDALISM, NATURAL DISASTERS, PHYSICAL DAMAGE, CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGE AND ACTS OF GOD ARE NOT COVERED.“

If you install headers - warranty is void. If the engine fails while off-roading - warranty is void. Snorkel - warranty is void. Big tires - warranty is void. Pedal Commander - warranty is void. Oh, and if you don’t get them documentation of the install within 30 days of the install... you guessed it - warranty is void.

I looked into this a while ago because I was considering one but man, if you read the fine print, the whole thing is a joke.

I'm looking forward to putting the s/c on my wife's 2020 4-runner. Magnusson does not have the tuning complete for the 2020 yet. The gains will be well worth it.
I'm not worried about the warranty. I've modified more new cars than I can remember, it falls back to your relationship with your dealer in alot of cases. If you are worried about warranty work or the dealer not standing behind the product then you don't want to change "anything" on the vehicle.
I personally enjoy my vehicles and always want them to perform better than stock.

Op, thanks for the write up and review on the product, looking forward to getting ours when available.

    Very cool mod.

Interested in the Magnuson tune and fueling. No question that the SC itself is a good unit. I would just be concerned that they’re adding enough fuel to compensate for the extra air/boost.

    Hi Narbeh,

loving this setup. Do you have a contact who made that heat exhanger bracket on the mani? Does it go in the grooves or just sits on top? It’s really clean. I need to find a location on where to put my oil catch can and this is the location I’m looking at but don’t know who can make a bracket like this.

Forced induction is awesome. Does the Magnuson have a whistling sound when under heavy boost? My '13 GT500 is almost too quite. As SVT changed the blower setup so it wouldn't whine like earlier models. I was hoping to hear a little whine myself.

Hey, new here but just had the sc installed in my 2016. I noticed the ac stopped working and then found that the sc belt cut an ac hosethat comes from the front of the truck. I couldn't find a step in the manual where it needed to be rerouted. I had a qualified shop do the install. Anyone else have this issue? Love the sc though nice pull.

Is that for 2020 4runner? Last time I checked, Magneson told me that Toyota hadn't yet released the codes.

I think the question is ; How much boost can the head gaskets take? 6 lbs of boost will probably not effect the block as much as head gaskets. I like the idea of a boost gauge though.

I’m just guessing they probably won’t do it.

    You can blame California.
