    Good Evening All,

Title says it all, I've asked some friends and like anything else I got mixed answers. Replacing my brakes for the first time on my 2016 4Runner. I occasionally tow a small utility trailer with yard scraps and with hunting gear when traveling West. Should I stick with OEM or aftermarket?! Thanks for the help!

If you were happy with the OEM, and got good life out of them, it might be worth sticking with them.

I was going to stick with OEM on my Tacoma if I would have had to replace them. Over 100K on the factory brakes when I traded it in!

If 2016 oem uses same brakes as a 2020, look elsewhere. the sqeal like a pig when its cold outside

I have owned quite a few Toyota’s since I started driving (about 10) and never found any over the counter pads to be worth a lick. And what I mean by over the counter is Autozone, NAPA, Advanced, Sears ETC. I am not talking about high performance aftermarket...I have zero experience in that arena. They has always seem to make much more noise than OEM and never lasted as long. I am of the opinion that Toyota’s reliability is in large part due to their quality parts...hence why I use OEM everything outside of fluids. Yes even my wiper blades are OEM ;)

I had to replace front rotors on my Tundra after 25K miles. They overheated and warped after going down the Grape Vine in SoCal. Common problem with warping front rotors reported in the Tundra forums. When the front brakes need to be replaced on my T4R, I’ll be looking for a decent set of performance brakes when I do.

I warped the front rotors on my 07 RAV4 V6 Sport and a 92 Toy Pickup. I replaced the OEM components with EBC Black Rotors and Greenstuff pads. I have 60K miles on the RAV and the pads are half life. Sold the Pickup with 20K miles on the brake parts and no issues. My 92 4R has a warped front rotor and planning on using EBC when I replace them. The 4R spends 80% of the time in the dirt so I don’t notice the brake pulse, only on the highway ride home. It’s on my to do list.
