Hi guys I am a new nember here from chicago suburbs.
    I currently htave both 05 sports V6 and a 2010 limited 4 runner.
This picture was taken last july 1 2019 outside the dealership when I bought my 05 4runner.
I towed it back home from upper north east michigan on a 330 mile 1 way trip to chicago.
It was a 6700 lbs load but the gen 5 took it easy back home.

Yes true as what the book says.
    2200lbs uhaul trailer + 4400lbs 4runner = 6700 lbs total.
But it handled great I am cruising 60 -70 mph on 5th gear easy on the flats on pace with the semis.
The only thing I was concerned
was the low profiles michelin defenders 265/50 - 20 .
I have to slow down to 55 when the paved road turns roughed with grooves.
Other than that it pulls easy and stable.
I did it also one time on my friends 2007 honda pilot when the timing belt broke. This was on a 150 mile trip.
I used my 2008 gen 4 that was totaled last january to pull it same thing it handled great.
But I am not saying you do it !!! I just share it and it could be done !!!
Yes the Gen4 has 240hp it pulled easy think the GEN 5 has 270 hp.
The honda pilot is also 4400lbs.

Seems like stopping would be the scary part. You have a brake controller? I pulled my camp trailer with my third gen around the block one time to get it out of my garage. No brake controller and weighs about 6k dry. It was scary as shit hahaha. I have a 1 ton for pulling anything heavy.

No need for brake controller .
U-haul car trailer has surge brakes they are strong .The towing vehicle brakes dont work that much .
At 60mph you tap your brakes and released it right away you can feel the trailer brakes pull you back!!!
Its a mechanical hydraulic cylinder attach to the tongue of the trailer that uses inertia everytime the tow vehicle slows down and the trailer pushes it brakes are applied right away .
The only dissadvantage is you cannot manually apply the trailer brakes and when you are backing up there is no trailer brakes.
