If you work day and night for your kids...you were never there for them
If you go to every ball game , school event, etc.....You were never a good provider

What makes you think you'll be doing the parenting? 45% of marriages end up in divorce. I'm guessing you are male.

Percentage of divorce in America 2018
But while that was once true (hello, 1980s!), today the real figure is actually a little bit lower. As of 2018, between 42 and 45 percent of all marriages in America end in divorce. Dec 28 2018

The reason it is dropping is less people are getting married

Yes! I can't imagine letting a young child out of my sight in a strange place, let alone a strange place full of expensive things!

    She is female :D

But im male, and i have done the majority of the parenting with my 2 kids for years. I get military disability due to an injury i sustained overseas, and my wife works. So im a stay at home dad and parent the most.

My father raised me and my brother. My biological mother wasn't exactly fit for parenting... So he took as when we were young and raised us, i have seen her exactly 3 times in my life that i remember. Granted, most of the time it is the woman who gets the kids, its not always.... And lots of marriages end in divorce, but not all... Lots of the ones that do end in divorce, end after the kids have grown up too.

Me and my wife have been married going on 15 years, it hasn't been perfect, i dont think any marriage is, but we have pulled through the tough times. But if there was ever a problem we couldn't work out, we both believe we would stick it out and at least pretend to be happy until the kids were grown. My youngest is 11 now... 7 years isn't that long to hold things together for your kids sake... in my opinion.

Anyways that got off topic, the parents were at fault for letting the little girl run off and play unsupervised... Parents need to be held accountable for the young children i think, i also think parents need to teach them how to behave in public. Granted this girl was young. And granted you have to be careful how you discipline a child, especially in public.

Kind of off topic a bit but i have a story to share that kind of relates.... I remember when my son was not much, if any, older than this girl, still in a stroller, and i was pushing him through a store.... He kept grabbing everything off the shelves... I told him to stop... He did it again, i told him in a more stern way to stop... He did it again while starting to yell, so i grabbed his hand and popped it... Not even hard enough to make him cry... But a guy in the store yelled and said you cant hit your child... I told him to mind his own business, he said no you cant hit a child.... SO i punched him in the face and told my son, SEE YOU TALK BACK AND YOU GET HIT. A cop was called, the cop came and informed the guy that i hit that it was legal for me to discipline my child the way i did, but not legal for me to hit him... The cop told the guy he would take me in to jail overnight for assaulting him.... The cop took me outside and let me go, told me he wished more people would discipline their children correctly like i did. I got lucky... That time... I have been through court mandated anger management TWICE. So these days i avoid people as much as possible and have learned to control myself a bit better.

I can imagine how irritating it would be having some random asshole telling me how to raise my kids.

There are different ways to discipline kids. We got physical punishments and other types of punishment for our shenanigans as kids. I don't begrudge my parents at all for either one.

If this happened in America the parents might have countersued the dealership for not providing a daycare center to watch their child while they car shopped.

Especially if they don't have any kids of their own..!

I know I sure needed some strong guidance... with out it, I'm guessing life would have been much harder.

That’s the problem with this country people everywhere suing everyone, completely the parents fault. Shouldn’t let your kids wonder around like that, and if you do you should know they won’t act like that, discipline them and raise them right. I have three and I could leave them in a room filled with guns and valuables and not have to worry(I’d never do that obviously)there my responsibility, to protect and care for. Sure as Hell not the dealerships or anyone else’s for that matter. They should have to buy the whole car

So back to the original question , how much would you have offered the Audi dealer?

My offer (what I can afford to give) would have been insignificant... no where near what they would need to repair. Therefore... I would not offer anything and tell them I'll be contacting my insurance agent asap so that we can properly take care of the problem.

I agree KSJ08... shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Knowing it's a dealership, they were probably able to buff everything out. $10k for spot detailing a couple of cars.:itllbuffout:

I just happen to be fighting with my neighbors homeowners insurance... Bonehead neglected to have his sprinklers blown or even turn of the water before we had or first hard freeze in September... We were out of town and got a call from my daughter saying that there was about 2 inches of water in our basement that crashed thru a window well from the busted water line. My daughter was able to shut the water off on the neighbors system finally since the neighbors were out of town as well and had no clue what had happened. Fortunately we just finished demo so the damage was minimal ($4,000)... we were able to get our contractor on site within a couple hours and started the 3 day clean up. When we got back to town he gave us the bill which we in turn took over to the neighbor and he told us he was renting from his grandma that lived out of town and that she was aware of the issue and her insurance would get in touch soon. We've called them at least 5-6 different times to there 1 and we are still getting the run around as to whether it will be approved/denied. Looks like I might have get a lawyer...

Looks like you should because you used your own contractor.

I understand they were out of town but just doing the work on what will be someone else dime is usually a big no.

As we are not parents; I have no room to talk. My opinion is treat them like adults & incarcerate the child. It clearly works. LMAO clearly a joke.

Suing the parents is silly, if you ask me. That just encourages more lawsuits for every stupid reason.

As a non parent & knowing the dealership has insurance you should be forced to pay the deductible & take parenting classes.

Now as we have no children. I can rant! LMAO
    1. Never take kids to buy a vehicle!
    2. Most dealerships have kids room to play in so they don't do this.
    3. Find a babysitter.
I know it isn't ideal & coming from someone with no kids but it took us a while to test drive, negotiate and do the paperwork necessary to buy a new car. Don't bring kids to purchase! Sorry.
An oil change, sure, keep them next to you.
    My professional (non-parent opinion).

    Another footnote.
If you have grandsons you are only one disagreement away from never seeing them again. When the mother leaves there's a 99% chance the kids will be with her. She won't be taking them to see you.
If you have granddaughters you will always be able to be close and will always have availability to them. In fact they may be moving in with you.

Tennessee has NO grandparent rights as far as visitation. States may vary about this.

Just another cheerful bit of information:(

In the spring of 1996, when I was 7 years old, my dad wanted to buy a then-new Toyota 4Runner. We were at this dealership in Allentown, Pennsylvania and they had a brand new Corolla in the showroom. While my parents talked numbers, I took the opportunity to play in the new cars. At one point, I got out of the Corolla and slammed the driver's door one of my fingers.

I started crying, which resulted in my parents and several salespeople running over. My mom cleaned up my thoroughly mashed finger and an employee provided some band aids and Neosporin. My finger was not broken and I didn't need stitches, but my fingernail turned black and blue, and ultimately fell off. All of the kids in class thought it was kind of cool. My finger healed so well that I don't remember which finger it was or even what hand it was on!

That’s not that bad. Friend’s mom’s pool just busted one night. Forget how many thousand gallons it was. It all went into the neighbors basement. I think it was four foot deep!! I wouldn’t own a full basement unless I installed ribbed tubing around the whole perimeter to force water away from the house. We have gotten some heavy rains. Luckily I have elevation and stay dry with a half cellar. Feel sorry for people at the base of a hill. Or not graded properly..

About average but it seems that everyone is getting a divorce or going on their third or fourth. The numbers are really bad. The worst thing about it is the kids getting put in the middle. My advice. DON'T get a divorce . Make that the last resort. Marriage numbers are going down. It's just a fact.

Thats why I said I understand they were out of town and had limited choices.

But they can also be dicks about it also which they apparently are doing now. I would call a lawyer.

State Farm offers a cash amount policy for your vehicle. If you dial in, say at $40k ,that's what you get if it's a total loss. Also you can dial in the amount of miles per year. The less miles the less money. BTW , lawyers LOVE to sue insurance companies.
Are you sure you didn't get hurt in that accident? No. How do you know? Are you a doctor? See where this is leading?
