What kind of roof top cargo do you use for your 4Runner?
I am thinking about going on road trip to Canada in the spring.

Just last week picked up a Thule MotionXT. Took it on a 8 hour highway trip, and almost forgot it was up there. minimal if any impact on gas mileage. Very easy to mount/dismount and I like the latch system; opens from either side. And I like that it sits lower than my previous boxes though some of that is the flatter x-bars on the Runner.4YUfAa1VlnnMpLtsNCbGLx-zUCXDuttYkyQ8Mamk_d783bb357b0c8c20e400c2a6effe4e69c23ce828.jpg

I like this type much better. Seen one just last week like the second post. It opened up and littered the highway, cars swerved to avoid it. Dude didn't even know, saw him exit at my exit, soon as he stopped the lid shut. I honked to tell him and he flipped me off, wouldn't roll the window down:boink:

I run the Force XXL on aero bars and I have the thule rear cargo box as well. Both work well, even better than I expected in some regards, but storage can be a pain when not on the truck. No noise on the top box, but I can't raise the hatch when it's on the rails.

That's about as cool as it gets, but what's the noise level like? Although if you're mounting them on a roof rack, maybe the base noise level is so high you don't notice.

You can't open the rear hatch at all or you can't open it all the way?

All the way, some people have reported using large boxes (maybe up to the Force XL, although this also depends upon what crossbars you use) and opening the gate without hitting the box. Although when we're loaded like this it doesn't matter because we have people in the 3rd row so I can access my stuff stowed behind the seat by rolling down the window.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure that's the same box I own. I have not tried it on the new 4R yet.
