I'm having a hard time finding decent replacements for my '84, or really any replacements at all. It's a Jeep Thing in these parts. I actually had what I thought to be an interesting idea, but I'm a little green on these things. I was thinking about using a drop in truck bed liner to fab rear interior panels. I'm also considering attaching them to the back of rear seats and using them on the tail gate as well, then using a spray on topped with vinyl for the floor. I'm not sure if it's ever been done, or if there's a reason it's never been done, which kind of makes me want to do it even more. Let me know what you all think and if you know of anyone that has attempted it.

Go for it man! You can buy that vinyl material at upholstery stores.

Thanks HoBo! Due to some confusion from another forum, I guess I should provide better details. I want to cut/fab a plastic bed liner for interior panels. I figured I could line the inside with Dynamat or something similar to eliminate rattle, etc. The spray on would only be used for the floor and there's a local guy here that makes custom vinyl/rubber flooring. The rubber flooring might be over kill, I dunno. I guess I'm just wondering if cutting up a drop in bed line makes any kind of sense, or if it's really even possible?

I would just bed line the interior. Using a plastic bed liner could work but I don’t think it would look very good. Or just use the rubber flooring.

The problem is the missing interior side panels. They were destroyed when I bought it, so I had to pitch 'em. Everything inside was pretty piss poor, so I'm literally starting completely over. I thought about the plastic bed liner to cut the panels because they're pretty easy to find used and cheap. Maybe I'd just be better off spending the extra money and using aluminum or steel. Thanks for the replies, HoBo!

I've got extra rear panels if you want them. They are in good shape except the PO cut out holes for speakers. If you add speakers to the same location with grills it won't matter.

I was thinking the same thought. You could always get a cheap or free plastic bed liner. A free one would be Ideal. You could cut the piss out of it and if it does not work out, big deal. You will be able to get an idea of if it will work or not. The ruffles at the edges may be a problem. So finding panels with the smooth edging may be tricky. I was thinking of using the plastic composite interior bed of a 08 tacoma. There is one local and I think I can get it cheap because it has been wreaked. Even If I do not end up using it, I may try just to see if it will work. I have a lot to do on this t4r so It is not a priority. I would like to see if this goes anywhere so good luck.
