I just purchased a 1988 Gen 1 that has what I believe is a 1996 engine in it. The last two digits of the engine number are 96. I'm assuming this is 1996. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Also, if the above is correct, I'm looking for an ECU and engine wire harness for a 1996 3zve 3.0 M/T 4runner.

    Thanks.

They didn't make 3vze is 96. Does it have a spring tensioner or a hydraulic tensioner for the belt?

From what I know 88-92 uses a spring tensioner and 93-95.5 uses a hydraulic tensioner. Hopefully this helps

Sorry I should have specified, the timing belt will either have a spring or hydraulic tensioner. So if you have a hydraulic tensioner it's not the original motor.
