Hello to all of you in 4R Land!

FNG here with my first Runner and lovin' it! It's a 2013 SR5 and I want to get side steps, i.e. Raptors, Magnum, N-Fabs, something like that.

I'm getting conflicting info: A lot of places are listing 2014 and up on some steps that I like and 2010 and up on styles I don't like. Is there a difference? Isn't the body the same on 2010 and up or is 2014 and up really different from the '13s?

I appreciate any suggestions and advice. Like I said-- looking for steps, not nerfs or running boards. AND what's a good place to buy from? Many thanks in advance!

5th gen 2013 and below have lower rocker panels like the current limiteds. So the steps for those have to clear more space. The 2014 to present have the thinner rockers.

Thanks for the welcomes and your reply, Daytona.

So what you're saying is that the '13 and older rockers are identical to newer Limiteds which are wider-- meaning they hang lower? Does this also mean that the mount brackets on step rails are different between pre and post 2014s or is that a brand by brand difference?

I saw your post on another site concerning rockers and I'm a bit confused. I just want to get the right steps the first time with no surprises when it comes to installation. Thanks again!

yes that’s it. Here’s a 2014 as it has different rockers then a 2013. It’s thinner so it hangs higher and it’s black.

Perfect, got it! As I have been shopping around there's been conflicting apps listed for some of the different brands. Now I know what to look for. Thanks again!
