My brother in law was out on my boat with me and he caught a 4 foot young thresher off the coast of LBI, NJ a month or so ago. I caught a small bluefish that day.

how is everyone storing their rods in there rig tho? haha. i do saltwater fishing here on the west coast and all my rods are one piece conventional rods that are 9'-10' long; i can fit the 9' rods inside with the seats folded but no go on the 10'. i was thinking about using my Thule snowboard/ski rack to hold my rods but was looking for a better solution to protect it from the elements when traveling.

as of right now, i use this thing: https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/bell-automotive-ultra-clothes-bar-22-1-00073-8/25984442-P

I hook it to the hanger hooks in the back and put the rods through there. I am gonna get one of the rhino rack ski/snowboard/fishing rod racks for the roof soon though, i think. I will be driving on the beach a lot more and this will make it easier plus free up room in the back and not have rods hanging over peoples heads. protection from the elements is something im concerned about too...may look into some reel pouches: https://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-Reel-Pouch/1349838.uts , or just wrap them in plastic bags or something haha

9E343A4A-C072-4178-B2C7-101AD0B33715.jpg The Cub Scouts are coming out to fish this weekend. I told everyone if they catch this Yellow-Perch with the aberrant tail stripe I would give them 20 bucks. Then I started looking at pics online and it may not be so uncommon. Oops!!

    Just saw this post.

Not the best picture, but here's what I did. I used a rod saver rack from Bass Pro Shops. I wrapped it around some aluminum flat stock from Home Depot and bolted the rear piece in where the cargo hooks were. In the front, I notched the aluminum and wedged it on the hooks by the grab handles above the rear doors. I can put rods up to 7'-6" in there.

I'm visiting Florida right now. I caught this 10# Black Drum right in the canal! This is a bucket list fish for me. I still hope to catch a bigger one, but this was plenty fun trying to keep it out of the pilings.

My Boston Terrier always tries to eat the bass I catch. It's pretty hilarious!
