    Hey guys!

Went hunting and got the p0304 code on my 2010 trail with only 64,000 miles. I'll give you a series of events for reference

    1) Drove 200 miles
    2) filled up half a tank at a gas station
    3) drove 20 miles to hunting spot on dirt road
    4) sat over night
    5) shot deer, hiked back to my truck and the check engine light was flashing, multiterran select flashing, and vsc light on. Rode rough.
    6) packed up everything and drove 200 miles home
    7) filled up half tank gas today to see if it was bad gas that did it
    8) got codes read at autozone and found it was p0304

Where should I start? I'm a grad student so don't have money to throw around

Code says 1) weak/missing spark 2) plugged fuel injector 3) engine mechanical fault 4) large vacuum leak specific to cylinder

Don't think it would be spark plug due to the low miles and the truck does shake. Thankfully I ride my bike to school so it can sit for awhile until Christmas break

    Thanks for any help

Move the COP that is on #4 to another cylinder (swap) and see if the misfire code moves with it.

It might take a bit of driving, did you clear the first code?

Swapped two coils, still throws the code for cylinder 4. Next course of action or do I bring it into the dealership?

Thanks! Big ole pack out for me too as I went solo. 11 points if counting brow tines.

yeah I was thinking about it but I think 5th gens have iridium ones and last forever? Not too sure but seems like 64xxx miles shouldn’t have this problem. I guess it is almost 10 years old though

A mouse chewed on your # 4 injector electrical wire, I guarantee it. This sounds exactly what happen to me last month except it was my # 5 cylinder from the code p0305. Toyota in their infinite wisdom decided to go with a soy based wire coating that mice like to chew on. The best prevention for future chewing is to open the hood and let your engine cool down as this warm is what attracts them in the first place. Leave the hood open as they do not like light from above (they feel safer hidden under things). Good luck, oh and it cost me about $200 to get diagnosed and fixed at a local reputable shop.

I honestly believe you are correct! I was sitting by a waterhole and saw a mouse run by me that next morning and thought "fuck, hope he wasn't by my truck". Guess there was one. I'll take it to a shop

Too big - probably mice or a pack rat :(

At least you got 64k miles in prior to the mouse chew. Mine had that issue at 250 miles in. Most likely chewed on the transport ship from Japan. A very knowledgeable Toyota tech in Durango, CO got my wife and me back on the road...

Man that does suck! Not a great feeling getting a new vehicle and having something go wrong.

Yup! Well kinda, until the next time I need to get groceries since I don't drive it. Hah!

I used to curse the neighbor lady for having a herd of outside of cats because of how awful outside cats are on small animals - but now I kinda thank them for keeping the mice away
