    Hi
I'd really like to change the sump gasket on my 2.8 diesel AND also the engine mounts. After reading a bit on an Australian forum, im told i have to unbolt the diff and loosen the steering box before then moving the engine up a couple of inches.

but that sounds like rebuilding the house to accomodate the new length of washing line.

Would it not be possible to simply unbolt the two engine mounts, then jack the engine up, say, three inches, then undo and take out the sump? Then, while suspended replace the engine mounts (mine are so shot that the entire car shakes like im in an earth quake while waiting at the lights)

    Any fedback appreciated.

    many thanks
