I think she might be wrong. Lol. Mine is a stick and my wife talked me into buying my 19 Z06 now instead of waiting till I retire. I don’t see us getting rid of our cars for a long time. I enjoy getting into a fast car and to go out for a nice long drive.

So my kid needs a car, are Corollas a solid car like the 4runner? I see they have CVT tranny and know Honda has issues.

36525993-74E4-4E0D-BBD1-54B6FD99BED0.jpg O’yes!! 140k on the clock runs like brand new. CVT oil was changed at 110k or so. Just don’t let the dealer overfill the engine oil. 4.3 quarts....Someone even smashed into the back of us 6k in damage....it just pushed in the bumper/trunk, I think they over charged...this one was built in Canada. I don’t know why they used copper battery terminals they corrode quick....it’s got 17 inch rims too handles like it’s on rails. I have since changed to BF Goodrich tires. Awesome in the rain it won’t see snow...

Well, in the Pacific Northwest, weather plays a lot in what I drive/ride. My DD is my T4R since the majority of the time...it's not summer. The few weeks a year that we have summer I split my time between the following:

    2005 Honda VTX 1300R

    1958 Chevy Panel

I just preordered a Tesla Cybertruck. I’ll post a photo of it in late 2022 when it arrives. Haha. I ordered the tri motor. My 4 Runner will be my last internal combustion engined vehicle. We all need to do our part for the globe, and it should be a cool vehicle.
I may keep my 4 Runner as a back up vehicle, and park it in the garage for old times sake whenever I need to hear an ICE run.

I will do my part... love my internal combustion engine and I won't part with it. Nor will I be made to feel guilty for owning it.

For sure, don’t feel guilty! The transition is slow, although speeding up now. As ICE vehicles are banned in urban centres in Europe, and the cost advantages and better infrastructure come into play, EVs will become a natural choice for most of us. It’s inevitable. But I’ll still keep the old 4 Runner as my last ICE vehicle. I get it. I don’t think any of the guys with grease under their finger nails and no mufflers will change, but most of the rest of us will. That’s all it takes.

I guess I will just have to make sure I stay away from the urban centers in Europe.

Fossil fuel transportation equals the oil sands in terms of Canada’s contribution to carbon pollution, so electric vehicles are definitely a solution whose time as come. Our target is zero by 2050 so there’s time to adjust to it.

Which is fine, but you do realize the economy here is based upon petroleum. Where is all the electricity going to come from to power all the replacement electric vehicles? Solar? Wind? Nuclear? Coal? AOC has the solution, right?

Hey I’m not arguing with anyone, just saying what is happening. Easy big fella, easy. Don’t be so threatened! Future electricity will come from renewables, the big investors in the US are ... wait for this - the oil industry. Haha. Looking ahead can be tricky, eh?

Oh I am not threatened. Not in the least. By 2050, I will be 90. So I likely won't be around, so I don't really think I have to worry about it. I guess in my waning years I will get to see how well "renewables" perform. I guess I just have to watch CNN more or listen to Greta occasionally.

Yeah, I’m in that category too. I think in terms of my grandkids. I won’t be here in 2050.

We don't have grandkids, so maybe I don't have that noble perspective. While I also care about the planet, I think the left has gone batch*t crazy with the subject. Our biggest problem is overpopulation, IMO. Our planet cannot sustain the numbers of people now. Renewable energies won't help that one iota. I shouldn't get political here. This forum is about our beloved 4Runners. Not left vs. right.

For sure, thermometers, and megatons of carbon in the atmosphere are not left or right, but sadly they are political.
