So im a chevy guy, v8 etc.

    But i have a opportunity to buy a 1995 toyota 4runner 4x4 5spd for $4700
    Great condition.

But i also have a chance to buy a a great condition 4x4 quadra trac 1 2005 jeep cherokee 3.7 but the awd system makes me nervouse.

So my question is how reliable are the transmission and 3.0 engine below i will paste the specific of whats been done to the truck the head gaskets and low hp and none locking diff are my concerns any info will be greatly appreciated thank you guys so much

4x4, 5 speed manual w 29k on clutch, Engine has 29k miles (i have pprwrk), ALL fluids have 4000 miles, new AFM, TPS, Deleted EGR, new OEM knock sensor, full exhaust from headers on back, new 6hole injectors, new spark plugs and NGK wires, mushimoto coolant hoses, new CV boots, and all new steering components and tie rods and all, bilstein shocks infront, airup shocks in rear, All new AC components, interior is nice main thing is the dash has two cracks and the drivers seat has a small spot of wear and tear. 31x10.5x15 BFGoodrich AT (29k on tires) on fuel rims have lots of life left in em. All windows work to include the sunroof. Trailer receiver and wiring. Zero rust on this truck, none. Weather tech mats all around. I have gotten up to 16 miles a gallon in this truck. Needless to say truck is mechanically sound. Body has 195k miles.

I would by the 4- Runner over the Jeep, but hey we all have different needs and if you plan on towing stuff then a V-8 is more suited. Welcome to the forum.

I definitely wouldn't buy the Jeep. Been there, never again! The Toyota 3.0 is a great engine actually if you fix the one problem they're known for and that was Blown Head Gaskets. The problem was the rear exhaust crossover pipe that cooked the two rear cylinders. Why Toyota chose to do this remains a mystery?! The solution is headers, which you say has been done. The rest of the drivetrain is as reliable as the sun. Lockers are an easy swap on the 8" Toyota diff. Has it been overheated at any point? That would be my main concern. Also check for frame rust inside the box frame. That's where it occurs. Also check closely around the windshield frame. Toyotas are notorious for rust in this area. What part of the country you're from makes a huge difference here. Post some pics if you can. Sounds like a lot of expensive work was done.

I agree with best gen. I have a 92 pickup that finally blew a headgasket at 292k. I rebuilt it, got rid of the crossover pipe in the exhaust and also added ARP head studs during the rebuild. I have probably 20k on it since rebuilding it and no problems at all.

Looks pretty original. Other than the hot air intake. Why ppl feel the need to swap out the factory cold air intake, which actually draws cold air from outside the engine compartment, I'll never understand. I'd hit up the junkyard for a factory air box.

Yes, but you said you came from a V8, that’s why I threw that in.

Again, looks solid! 95 is the last year for the 2nd gen. Last year for the tailgate(everyone knows real trucks have tailgates;))! Tires look fairly new. Rims are ugly, I'd get some og SR-5 wheels(but that's just my humble opinion). It shares the same suspension design as the first gens. Paint looks good. I'd pay $4Gs for it. Especially if it has receipts for all the work.

I avoid mud like the plague. Hate it. Especially the cleanup.
