Yep...to the tune of $437 I now have new glass from the same company that is featured on the Netflix documentary!

This shit is soft as shit. Pitted as hell, several chips and cracks but this one was the one to draw it over the line.

bTW. Check your glass coverage on your insurance! My deductible was $500 and the glass was $437. By paying out of pocket I got a tank of gas out of the deal...

Well my Arai is more comfortable than my AGV Corsa. But I have a tinted face shield for it. When I’m on the Harley though it’s open face with eye protection...C5C78B1C-9301-4DF8-AC15-B2C05088A9D1.jpg

This is why I refuse to drive behind semis. I live by a concrete plant and there’s small rocks everywhere on the highway. 2 windshields in 2 years.

Hmmm I did a windshield in September zero out of pocket. Hell I never even dealt with them the glass company did everything, they even requested and got back to me to tell me "OEM" was approved. However for a new(er) vehicle the woman did tell me most companies now automatically allow OEM. It gets sketchy when the vehicle is older or has a good amount of miles on it. The person at the glass shop told me people are way to concerned about using supposedly OEM. She said it's the same glass off the same production the difference is literally each manufacturers markings are put on it. No clue but that's what I was told.

My last glass claim for OEM was over $900. But I have glass coverage. I usually wait for 10+ chips before I replace.

I've got Liberty Mutual there's cheaper out there but never really had any issues with them.

Safelite came out to me and so far so good. It’s glass from that company that’s on Netflix.

@KSJ08 i have a Arai XD4 full face helmet and went with the packtalk for helmet audio and comms. It’s paired with the bike along with my phone so I can control everything from the left hand grip.

I had something bounce off my windshield a couple weeks ago. It didn't do anything but I immediately called my State Farm agent to go over everything on my policy as I've seen some back and forth on here about OEM being approved or not. Granted this is for my policy but it made sense.

I have a $0 deductible on comprehensive which is what this would fall under. I am not, and no State Farm customers are guaranteed OEM replacement anything on their vehicles. Though we are guaranteed replacements that are OEM quality and return the vehicle back to the way it was when it rolled off the assembly line. I was told a lot of the times they approve OEM parts because there just isn't a replacement of the same quality or there is a certain feature that a non OEM part might not have yet that doesn't return the vehicle back to it's manufactured state. At the same time some of the manufactures of OEM parts also make the non OEM parts that are the same exact thing. I only assume this is because they can double dip on the parts by selling the OEM to the dealer body shops at a higher price and selling the non OEM to the other body shops that are approved by the insurance companies at a lower price. I was also given an example for collision and body panel replacements. They automatically approve only non OEM, but in many cases a body shop will insist on OEM because of fitment issues and it will be approved by the insurance company. This is because the insurance company doesn't want to pay all the extra hours of labor trying to get a non OEM part to fit properly.

It's a conversation everyone should have with their agent. Different policies cover different things. I was okay with everything that was told to me because my policy requires them to return my 4Runner to the way it was when it rolled off the assembly line.

On a side note..I've always had a $0 deductible on comprehensive. It was set up that way by my parents when I was 16 and I didn't even realize it until I was like 22 and a semi tire on the highway got hit by car and thrown up in the air and landed on my hood. Since it hit me it fell under comprehensive. On the other hand the car in front of me fell under collision since it hit the tire. I had a $500 collision deductible on my policy until I got my 4Runner. For the hell of it I had them price out the lowest deductible allowed which was $250. I also had an old grandfathered in $18/day rental payout which I had to increase up to like $45-50 a day. All in all those two things hardly raised my monthly premium at all. I went from a 2008 Lincoln MKZ to my 2018 4R SR5 Premium. I knew the premium would go up. Keeping my policy the same raised it by $8 a month. Lowering my deductible on collision raised it by another $5 a month. This was in January of this year (2019) and I was told initial price increase was because my 4R's being as new as it was. Funny thing is that my renewal of my policy in March aged my 4R by one year automatically and dropped my premium down by like $6. So after all that I am only paying $7 more a month for a 10 year newer vehicle and the lowest deductibles I can get.

This too might also be a conversation worth having with your agent. Price out low deductibles and higher rental payouts. It might not be as bad as you think. Then again I am just another goof on an internet forum so don't take my word for it. Call your agent.
