Well said! I've got the SB and sounds the same as PC. No one understands until they try it, so so much difference it's like magic

Why do you have to plug the small hole on the lower air box? It looks like it could be for a drain in case water gets in. Thanks for the help

So installed the trd intake last week, already had trd exhaust. Last weekend was fun, got about 8 mpg driving around punching it. Gotta say when I floor it it gets up and goes!
Now, back to reality as the runner ain't no GT mustang. Driving my normal conservative way, sound is pretty cool, even with going heavy on the pedal last week just to hear the sound I picked up 1 mpg over my normal average and up to 20 with almost all city driving. Might do a road trip next week to check hwy mpg

There is one small hole (IIRC) that you fill with a panel plug. I think you plug it to prevent a whistle. Again, if I remember there is a gap around one of the rubber mounting points to allow water out.
I plan on washing ours tomorrow. I will check then.

I thought the pedal commander was a bit of a gimmick, then I drove a friends with one, and mine (with out) back to back, and was blown away. The pedal commander makes the car feel like there is a real good to god honest throttle cable between the pedal and throttle. It certainly doesn't make the car faster, but it feels like a throttle should feel.. its a direct connection. I didn't realize how damped and delayed the electronic signal was until i drove one back to back,, it's worth it's weigh in gold.

Good to know. I got shipping confirmation yesterday from PC, so I will find out. I know several on this forum say they're a waste of money, and I myself am skeptical, but I would never know w/out trying one myself.

I ordered a new 2007 Jeep Wrangler JK when they first came out, my first vehicle owned with drive-by-wire, and the lag shocked me. I eventually got more used to it and it didn't bother me after a while, but always wanted to get a SB to fix the lag, but never did. While i don't really notice any accelerator lag with the 4R, I am curious about how the PC will affect the pedal response. I will know soon personally whether the PC belongs on the list of "Things you'd never do" on a 4R. ;)

I guess the PC has different "settings" on it to tweak the relationship between throttle pedal and throttle body opening angle... I'm not sure what mode it was in when I drove it... I'm guessing one of the more aggressive ones...

Anyone try a Pedal Commander on a 2020 yet? The listing only covers to 2019. Wondering how it will work out with the radar assisted cruise control.

Where did you purchase your PC?

What makes you think the PC would affect it?

All the PC does is affect the throttle response so I have a hard time believing it would not be compatible.

Great thread. Thanks for all the shared info. I stopped in here to get more for my new 2020 ORP, specifically on PC and CAI as it pertains to the 5th Gens. And stayed for the excellent discussion. My 2000 LOVED the K&N CAI we added. I had it about 5 years before adding the K&N. My average MPG was 16.2 after adding I reached 18.4 average MPG over the following 7 years. And while I have no graphs, those are real world numbers over every fill-up. But I bought it to help tow my boats. Before she would struggle heading up Fancy Gap in NC off I-77. After installation she was no show pony but I wasn't sweating and rocking in my seat trying to get up the hill either. So while I enjoyed the throaty sound and the extra few MPG the added power to pull a 5700 pound boat 420 miles gave me great joy for about $250. Seems like the AFE CAI may be in the new Trucks future based on this discussion. Dealer is installing the TRD exhaust on Thursday. Now to decide on a throttle response system (or not). Thanks again for entertaining a Corvette guy.

Okay, the 2020 Offroad Prem with dealership installed TRD exhaust was getting 17.2-18.1 MPG We've added K&N CAI and the numbers increased slightly to 17.9-20.4. The ranges are provided because I measured each tank on average I'm seeing 1.56 mpg increase. Certainly feel the improved ability to lane change and merge. I drove the 2000 SR5 nearly 100,000 of her 198,000 mile life and what I noticed with both is tire inflation has a greater impact on these than other vehicles. I can take my pressures from 36-41 and gain 2.5 mpg. This was done on a 1,600 mile trip to TN. Other than our own body weight and the accumulaton of dirt on the 4runner the only change made was tire inflation. We managed 17.8 MPG on the way down and 20.3 on the way back. Weather was nearly identical. The coeffecient of drag was increased on the way home due to dirt and dust.

Where you you start? And where in TN? I’d expect your results to vary wildly if driving on east coast mountain roads. It’s not just a there and back. “There” can be very different than “back.”

Great point. I eliminated the portions in TN (Chatanooga area) where we were just site seeing. There is a 300' elevation change over the 800 miles legs each way. It is in favor of the return trip but otherwise this (nonscientific) assessment maintained as rigorous a set of variables as possible for a family trip. How are the OBX, by the way? North or south?

This is one funny ass thread. I read all the replies from the Tory D-bag and it seriously sounds like he's hating on anything and everything about mods. I just bought a 23 ORP last week and put a Pedal Commander on yesterday. That was the best $300 I've ever spent. I also plan on getting a CAI and aftermarket exhaust to complete the package. Im not looking for a race car, just something more enjoyable to drive and the PC has nearly done that by itself. Well worth the money, no doubt.
Tory, keep hating on everyone because it's enjoyable to read your idiotic posts, it really is. Also, while you're at it, grab that stick up your bum, yank it out, and then sell your 4Runner because you certainly don't deserve it.

I can see the pedal commander providing some decent benefits. The other stuff? Not so much
