Best 3.0 to 3.4 conversion kit

    I’m new to the forum and have a 1995 4Runner Limited. The engine is the stock 3.0 and is junk. I need a conversion kit in order to swap the stock 3.0L to a 3.4L 5VZ-FE. Any idea on where to buy a kit for cheap?

    What parts are required to do the conversion? (ie; wire harness, exhaust, etc.)

    Wiring, battery tray swaps sides, air intake swaps sides, exhaust crossover or custom work, intake plenum sits about 2" higher so you need a body lift or cut the hood and use a hood scoop to cover hole. google 3.0 to 3.4 swap and read some threads about it. It's a good read.

    Rebuilt Engine MLS and ARP on the heads, DT Header, 2-1/2" CARB compliant Flow-Master CAT with 2.0" Bosal CAT back Dayco 1-1/4" Spacers, SkyJacker M-Series Monotube Shocks, Ball Joint Spacers. 95-9006 K&N Air Cleaner, G-Plus Alum Radiator, ZIrgo 16" Fan, Derale Temp switch/relay
    Keep your oil pan if your IFS is going to be retained. The 3.4 puts the intake on the other side and the battery will need to move to the opposite side. Ditto on the issue with it being a bit taller than the 3.0. Doing this swap will be anything but cheap! If you can do the labor it gets more reasonable but the learning curve is going to be sage like after your done.

    My son and I are nearing the end of our 3.4 / 5 speed manual swap on his 1992 4 Runner. I agree with atgparker regarding D.I.Y. There are many resources out there to guide you. Toy Only Swaps and Off Road Solutions have been great resources. Yoda Jim's in Denver is a great resource for used 2nd and 3rd gen parts. We purchased our 3.4 engine from JDM in Dallas, which was a challenge but worked out well in the end. When you get through it you will know how to work on it. Good Luck!
