Spare Tire Protector

    The spare underneath is a good, out of the way spot for storage, but I’ve discovered that eventually the wheel will rot from road salt.

    I found this guy while looking for a solution, and wondered if anyone here has experience with him.

    Thanks but I'm wondering if it traps moisture in any way.

    From what I can see, it has drain holes. I’m thinking of ordering one each, for my 4Runner and Taco.
    Maybe if enough folks have interest, we can work a group rate...

    Is plasti-dip a mod?!
    Just fluid film the underside, dropping the spare. spray the underside really well, then spray the metal on the spare wheel, then nothing on the underside will rot from salt.

    I hadn’t thought of that. Great idea!
    I just got an order of Fluid Film in this week, too, in preparation for winter.

    Certainly lots cheaper than the tire cover.
