2017 Sr5 4x4 3" suspension lift question with 285/70/17 stock sr5 wheels 17x7

    Hello fellow memebers,

    I would like to achieve a 3" lift with the best ride quality on a budget. I also would like to level the rake. I have put together a kit and ordered the following parts below after weeks of research and would appreciate any insight. I do not plan on adding a winch or heavy bumper. I do carry tools in the trunk less than 100lbs. The T4R will be a DD with the occasional off-road fishing trip in thick sand, rocks, mud, hills and 1- 3ft stream crossing. Will I achieve this with the following? If not any recommendations? The main concern are the coil choices, will we achieve the 3" lift with stock to no-rake?

    - Bilstein 5100s front and back.
    - OME 2884 front and 2889 rear coils.
    - 1.25 wheel spacers front and rear.
    - Stock sr5 alloy wheels 17x7.
    - Falken Wildpeak AT3W All Terrain Radial Tire - 285/70R17 117T.
    - SPC UCAs.

    285/70R17s will be 100% fine on your stock SR5 wheels. They are the same width as the TRD wheels you see about 90% of all 4runners run. 285/70R17's tires are only 11.2" wide compare to stock 265/70R17's 10.4".

    bridgestone revo 3 5100's @2.5/1.5. Stock springs & rear daystar 1.5" spacers
    If you want to avoid UCA's you could run stock springs and run the Bilstein’s at 2.5" up front and put a 1.5" daystar spacer in the rear. I did this. If you go this route you do not have to worry about any lean if you don't have lean to begin with

    Or you could also go with wheelers springs made by eibach (T-1 and T-13 springs I believe) to get the same 2.5/1.5 lift setup.

    I just had my Truck aligned at Toyota. Minimum caster spec I read was 2.5 degrees. I was able to get 2 degrees on both sides and there are no negative effects. I am super sensitive for changes in handling as I come from driving sports cars and even, I can't tell the difference.


    Some states have this no more than 3" rule for a lift and if you get someone who has no idea what they are talking about (most cops) you could run into a problem.


    There is nothing wrong with the setup you want to go with, however some complain about how stiff the rear OME springs are. Wheeler's has a 2.0-inch rear spring called the T-12 which some have went with and had good results with the front OME spring.


    One last option you could go with If you just want matching springs is a wheeler’s T-1 front spring with 1/4-inch spacers for the 3" lift and t-12 springs in the rear for 2" lift.

    With that coil set-up, your still going to be ass high.

    Your front coils provide 3" of lift and your rear coils provide 2.5-3" of lift.

    If you want to be level, your front end has to be between 1.5 - 1.75" higher than the rear end.

    I suppose you could get closer by setting the 3" coil on the 0.8" setting of the Bilstein 5100, but that would be a little silly and would jack your front end up to 3.8", which can cause issues with CV angles. Might as well just get the proper coil height to begin with.

    I see what your saying. Someone told me that they would mount the tires for me but would need to cut the tires to get them to fit on stock wheels.

    Too many to list...
    I have a 2.5" front and 3" back- revtek spacer lift with Toyo Open Country AT2 285/70/17 tires. You will get people on here that will hate on spacer lifts, but I have done a lot of trail running as well as rock climbing and NEVER had an issue.

    The revtek spacer lift is pretty inexpensive and also allows you some flexibility if you want to add a different type of lift later on.

    I think you should try it, cause I've been in the same situation and it helped a lot. Well, actually, a friend of mine recommended me to try this electric winch from the top, and it worked pretty nice for me. From that day, I always try to prepare and take all kinds of different support tools with me in a long trip.
