I find it entertaining and reassuring that since our vehicles are so reliable and trouble-free, that owners tend to get extremely obsessive over little things.

I've owned a lot of vehicles and have been on a few forums for those vehicles and have never seen one with so many threads on things that most people don't even think about.

Interior lights, accessory knobs, seat covers, emblem overlays, etc.

I guess when you don't have to worry about check engine lights and drive train failures, you can focus on somewhat silly things.

Or, is it because due to their inherent nature of being very reliable and high-quality, that people who are very detail-oriented and nitpicky tend to buy them?

Either way, it is amusing to witness.

yeah. I drove Blazers & Trailblazers for 20+ years. Real love-hate relationship, but I finally wised up and bought a 4Runner when I could afford one. I thank God for the Chevy forums...full of info from owners on how to fix them. I never could have kept mine on the road without them.

Yep. Came from the GMFullsize forums when I traded in a 2005 Yukon with only 102k babied miles that was falling apart. Every couple of weeks it was another light or another $500 repair.

I think it's because the people here are 4runner or automotive "enthusiasts". They love and admire and take care of their trucks. It's not just a vehicle to get from point A to point B. It's a hobby for many people. And they treat their trucks like some people would treat a rebuilt classic car. Some people are proud of their trucks and the time they put into them.

People in my family might think I'm nuts for waxing and detailing my truck twice a year (or more). I enjoy it. I enjoy the results. Some people don't even wash their vehicle once a year, let alone wax it.

Some 4Runner and Tacoma owners like their trucks just like someone else might like and care for a corvette.

And 10 years from now you'll have a very nice "vintage collectible" 4runner on your hands if you keep it. And it'll be worth a wad of cash!

I agree. I detail the 4Runner with the Wizards detailer at least once a week. Just like my GT500. You have to treat them well so they will treat you well. Plus, when either is really clean, they get more looks. Especially the Shelby!

I think it’s because most people who buy 4runners, plan to modify them from the get go. Just like the jeep crowd does.

Best detailer on the planet! Bar none. Does NOT streak. Meguiar's is not even close to being as good. Nor Mother's. Check it out - and their other products are fantastic, too.
