Hello all, I am a total newbie to the forum, and I will say up front I appreciate any help you all can provide me, since I haven't built any "capital" at this site or community.

I am in the process of looking for a new hunting/recreation vehicle and I have always wanted a 4runner. I found one that fits my criteria and budget, and I checked out the carfax and I don't know how to feel about it. 2006, it currently has about 160k, but at around 130K it had a lot of exhaust work and the following suspension work done:
    - Front strut(s) replaced - Shock absorber(s) replaced - Strut(s) replaced - Axle(s) replaced - Stabilizer bar bushings replaced - Front driveshaft replaced - Rear shock absorber(s) replaced - - Front axle(s) replaced/repaired - Four wheel alignment performed - Sway bar bushing(s) replaced
So part of me is like cool no accidents on the carfax, so this is all work I don't have to do...but isn't it a little weird to have all of that work done at 130k?

    Thoughts or opinions? Again Thanks!

    John

Honestly, doesn't seem that weird. I have about 160k miles and I had to replace upper control arms, bushings and a few other things when I replaced my suspension, struts and springs. The front drive shaft seems like the only outlier there...

I also need to replace my front CV axles at some point. All the work seems timely as the vehicle isn't brand new.

    Curious, what is he asking?

Obviously you're going to want to test drive it first to see if there are any shakes, shimmys, or vibrations. Drive it at various speeds and make sure to get up to highway cruising speed.

You might also what to take it to an alignment shop to check it out and make sure everything is on the up and up before you buy.

He wants around $7k for it. I drove it today and it is definitely a no deal. At the first stoplight I came to, took my foot off the break, lightly hit the gas and then panicked as I rolled about 2 feet backwards before the transmission engaged. Did that pretty consistently on the drive.

It always amazes me the difference in what cars of the same year from the same area can look like. I know of another 2006 with almost 200k that lived life in the same area that looks 5 years newer and drives tighter than this one did. All about who owned it.
