    hi all,
Im looking to add 3' to my 4runner to make my 4runner look more aggressive without breaking the bank. I have a very limited knowledge of lift kits as this is my first time using one so hopefully I can get some really good advice! Because I have such limited knowledge, I'm just going to describe what my car use will be. My 4runner will almost entirely be driven in the suburbs and the extent of the "offroading" would be u-turning over a median or driving on some wet grass. Ive heard that spacers are ok and that body lifts should always be avoided. Currently I am looking at the toytec lift pictured below but Im sure that you all have much better insight than I do. Are there any better options out there? Better being that it will ride like factory if not better and will not break the car down any faster than normal wear and tear on the factory 4runner. All advice/opinions welcome and appreciated.

Just know that you will need to add a couple more components to get you running properly with those coils.

You will need to add shocks front and rear ($500 minimum) and since you're lifting so high, Upper Control Arms ($500 minimum).

You're also going to want to check with Toytec to see what the spring rate of those springs are. You're not going to want to go too far away from the stock spring rates unless you plan to add weight to your truck. Stock springs are around 580lbs in the front and 280lbs in the rear (I think). Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. So if you go with a 700lb spring in the front and 400lb springs in the rear without adding weight, your truck will ride like a tank.

You can get away a lot cheaper by going with a 2" lift in the front instead. That way, you don't have to buy the Upper Control Arms.

The Eibach kit that Charlievee posted is a really good value and is of excellent quality. I run Eibachs as well.

You might also want to check out Dobinsons, Bilstein 6112's, and Old Man Emu (all very highly rated around here). All of these companies offer high quality mid-level lift kits at fair prices.

For what it’s worth, when I called toytec and discussed lift options for my wife’s 2019 trd orp, both sales guys said the OME lift was the best option for under $1500 and much better than the bilstein. That’s what I bought and it rides amazing.

Edit: I also ordered the OME with the heavy front springs since I’m planning to add a heavy duty bumper eventually. Even with the heavy spring rate, the ride is awesome.

Can you post a picture as it sits with the OME lift?

I'm looking into the same setup as a starter lift.

    Thanks for that pic!
That is there perfect amount of height. Is that a 3' lift or a 2.5"? I also posted on reddit for some help and I'm hearing that if I choose to do a 3' lift that eventually I will have to replace my UCA since I plan to drive this till it dies. If yours is a 3' lift, have you replaced your UCA's (and what is the mileage with the lift) or plan on it or is the need to replace the UCA's overly cautious?

Yes, 3” lift with the heavy front coils. I did not replace the UCA’s as the alignment shop told me there was no need to. Right at 5k miles on the lift now.
