So this is all up in the air, but I remember back 2 years ago Toyota stated they wanted a hybrid engine in all of their line up. Plus this makes sense why the Lexus Ls ditched the 4.6.

IMO: not a huge fan if this turns out to be true. I know too many guys with Ecoboosts and trash their turbos towing 9k up in Alaska because they do all the work. Those of us who have the 5.7 Tundra hold on to them they will become like the 2nd gen Tacos very high resale and hard to find.

Glad(?) I won't be around in 50 years when their trying to determine what to do with the millions and millions of spent vehicle batteries from all these electric cars.

I think it all makes sense, except for the 30mpgs part. I'd be surprised if they actually got that.......even with the hybrid.

Generally speaking, the Eco boost has been a pretty good motor and it's allowed a lot of the full size truck guys to accept that a smaller motor with a turbo can do most of the daily tasks required of them.

Not as reliably as a naturally aspirated v8. Smaller motor heavily reliant on the turbos is just going to burn up. If you are like most of truck buyers and only daily drive it to work and drop the kids off at soccer practice. Then these twin turbo engines are fine. However, the guys like us that tow, haul, and off road on a daily basis will suffer from over wearing the engine.

I'm sure there are some problems here and there, but would they really continue to make the ecoboost for the past 8 years if people were blowing them up when using them for truck stuff? Sounds like some are having maintenance issues that could have been prevented (carbon buildup).

BTW, I'm not a Ford fanboi by any means. I don't care for their vehicles much TBH, but the majority of ecoboost owners seem to be pleased with the performance of the 3.5L when compared to the NA V8.

Im not denying that people love them and have little to no issues. However, coming from people I know who do crane rigging, farming, logging, ranching, ect. All have less issues with the coyote 5.0 then with the 3.5 ecoboost due to more engine power than relying on turbo. Now im not saying all twin turbo engine are bad they are great in crossovers and diesels because they aid the engine in power but are not a crutch to most of the source of power.

Should be interesting to see how toyota deals with them in trucks (should that transpire).

One would think it would be better than the Ecoboost despite Ford having an 8 year head start.

That motor has been out for a while, it's in a Lexus so it should be reliable. Toyota takes pride in Lexus and they are put through some more rigorous testing than their normal Toyota branded vehicles. I personally would rather have a V8 but obviously I don't have a say in it. No matter what Toyota will have to really bring their A game here.
