Question: My rear window on my 2nd gen will roll up with the button I have inside but wont roll down. Now the button has a sticker that says up but one that does not say down. I am not sure if it doesnt go down because of this particular model or maybe the button is not working properly. It is a 1994 SR5 model. Dont know if that helps. Thanks! :)

My 92 is doing the same thing. I pulled the switch out and it does say down, it’s just so faded you have to hold it just right to see it.
Have you found any solutions yet? My switch looks good, wires are all intact. Window rolls down with the key at the tailgate.

DeoxitD5 from Amazon and a q tip on the switch metal contacts. Cleans the oxidation off the switches. Bitch was taking apart all the panels and the center arm rest to get to the switch.

Mine was the same in my 92,key in,up and down was fine, from the console, only up worked.I found two rear window relay control boxes at the wreckers yard, removed the rear inner left trim panel of my 4runner,pulled out the old box, loose fitted the new, used ones to test, one only went up so was no good, but the other intermittently went up and down and I could hear the relays clicking in and out while the trim panel was removed so I had a fair idea that the up and down relays were good. The console button turned out to have dirty contacts on the "down " side causing the stop/start issue,I haven't cleaned it yet (if I can pull it apart without destroying it) but the more I use it the better it's working.Up and down.
