Just took delivery of a 2010 Salsa Red 4R Trail. I was cleaning the car and I noticed the front sway bar was disconnected on the passenger side. My concern is that this may have damaged the KDSS. Trying not to overreacted until i get some more knowledgeable opinions. How concerned should i be?

Less concerned, probably no concern at all since that is the fixed side of the system. Do you have a kdss dash light illuminated? Is it leaking anywhere? In no, it is likely just as easy as reconnecting it.

Looks like a bolt fell out and in turn the sway bar popped out. I know I know, I'm stating the obvious.

Did you buy it from a dealer or was it a private sale?

It was a new car dealership that received this vehicle as a trade in. They performed their "multi point inspection" and sent it in for a safety inspection, which it passed. I then had a third party look the vehicle over. They did a vehicle walk around and multiple photos, but I guess this was missed during that process...

If KDSS is ok and I just have to replace the bushing (was planning on replacing all bushings anyway) then it isn't a big deal. Hopefully the thread for replacement bolt is not stripped out.

There are no leaks and KDSS light is not illuminated on the dash.

As suspected, the top bolt location is stripped. I believe it is an M12 - 1.25 bolt from factory. Can anyone confirm this?

Debating if I should use a 1/2" tap or jump to an M14. First I'll try cleaning the existing thread with an M12 tap.

I would take it back to the dealer and have them fix it.

Exactly. They had a “150 point inspection” or what ever they call it, that should have been caught.
