Curious to see how many of you have held on to the same vehicle for a few decades. I see 3rd gens daily, on the road in these parts, and the occasional 2nd gen.

In an era when most folks change their vehicle every 6-7 years, wanted to see who has held on the longest.

Almost at 15 with my '05.....my wife is still driving her '03. Both vehicles have lived outside their entire lives and have been super reliable!

About 19 years of ownership here. Got my 96 cheap as hell, fiber optic splice/testing truck. It had 174,000 miles then when I got a loan to buy it. Rumors of a new transmission. And new top end when the dealer messed up a timing belt replacement. No paperwork to back it up though...

Ask me again in couple years. I have a problem keeping a vehicle more than 5 years.

Well I haven't since this is the first 4Runner I have ever owned. Kind of a flawed poll in that respect.

My dad owned his '95 for almost 20 years before it was totaled in an accident. He'd still be driving it otherwise. For me, the longest I've owned a vehicle is 3 years.

o_O....:D I guess I am misunderstanding the point of the poll but then realized it's in the Gen forum. My bad.

    New 5th gens don't apply.

I'm 16 years with my 03 Tacoma if that counts, my 2012 4R will need to make another 10 years at least, I plan on giving it my son when he turns 16

Counts for me. I have an 05 Taco, but I bought it last year. Love it. Congrats!

I bought my 99 4Runner from a man who purchased it brand new. He owned the vehicle for 20 years, although he only put 124,000km (Not even 80,000 miles) !!!

I'm at 288k in the 03 Tacoma, 157k in the 4Runner. That 99 is almost up for its first timing belt change.

Wife has an 05 4Runner bought it new and now with 295,000 miles, it's still going strong. I had to replace the radiator on it a couple years back, and that's it. It's been a hell of a vehicle. We bought the 19 4Runner back in February, but the 05 is her daily driver. Also have a 96 Tacoma with 408,000 miles.

I bought my first 4runner in 2004 ('96) but was dumb and traded it in 4 years later. Now I am back in a 4runner but have only had it a year. Im no longer dumb and will be keeping this one for a very long time.

I bought my 1999 4Runner in 2003 with about 60K km on it. Just did the oils, filters, belts and put in a used 1999 AC compressor picked from an auto wrecker. The AC compressor works great and only cost cdn$125.00:). Have a 2020 army green TRD Pro on order. At 66, this will most likely be my last 4Runner....My other vehicle, driven spring until fall only, is a 2006 Corvette Z06 which I bought new, and enjoy driving it today as much as the first time I drove it off the lot:) The new Corvette C8 (naturally aspirated) is now on my bucket list, but maybe next year.....

I bought my 2000 4cyl in 2005 with 10,000 miles. It still smelled new! Older couple used it to pull camper to local park. Original paperwork had sale price $28,000. Wow that was a lot in 2000. I got it for $15,000. Now at 172,000 miles & I wont part with my "Millie". I love her more than the 2000 Tundra I traded for, it was too much truck for this lil gal.

I bought my '84 4Runner in 85. Just took it for a drive yesterday. That makes 35 years.... 4 engine rebuilds, plus at least 2 heads, lots or rubber replacement. I have an '05 Tacoma for my DD now.

Bought my 92 in 1994. That makes 26 years now. Other than maintenance, new shocks, tires, brakes, and battery all the rest is original. Oh and has been in 2 accidents. One just messed up the front bumper the other caused $9,000 damage to the rear end and front bumper.

Can understand loyalty to our vehicles....until I purchased my '97 Limited earlier this year, I owned and drove my first gen Isuzu trooper 30 years, before selling it..and only because certain parts, were getting darn near impossible to locate...

Here I thought my 12 years with my '03 was a long time. Sometimes I regret letting go of that thing. I had so many good trips and memories with that 4runner. I really couldn't afford it when I bought it, but it ended up being a good purchase.

I was actually sad when I traded it in on my '15 Taco. I didn't realize how much I was going to miss it. I hope whoever has it now is taking care of it!!
