Hey, crew. We are replacing the stock suspension in my buddy's 2008 T4R with the KYB coilovers (no lift).

I've never done a suspension swap before so this is all new to me. What other suspension parts should be replaced right now, since we already will have it taken apart?

Are there any other parts we need in addition to just the coilovers and rear shocks?

Wrangler Duratracs, center console organizer & trav all 1576 dog divider for the rear. Xpel wrap with ceramic coating. 20% tint on front windows. TRD intake. TRD oil cap Plus parts on shelf & a wish list.
    I would say any bushing.
Especially sway bar (rear also if applicable).
Any piece of rubber that looks deteriorated.
    How is the steering stabilizer?
    I don't know '08 4runners.
    I just know general maintenance.
Also, check ball (& axle if 4x4) joints, tie rods etc...
    That is a start.
I know more intelligent people will chime in!
    This is my unseen assessment.

Another question- was gonna go with these Monroe springs for rear but it says "with rear air suspension".

    What does that mean?

Maybe it's referring to air bags?? Air bags sit in the coils and are designed to prevent rear end sag while carrying/towing heavier loads.

You probably don't need new coils anyways. They are typically a lifetime part.

If you replace the shocks only and leave the stock coils, you will notice a big improvement. Also replace the bushings like 4Runner fun mentioned and it will tighten things up nicely.

New suspension installed and we’re disappointed. KYB front coilovers and new oem rear springs.

here’s the deal. Everything I read about the KYB fronts said, if anything, the front might come up a little bit. But we are now 3/4” lower in front than we were with the old OEM parts. And a half inch higher in the rear with the new oem springs.

and now we’re sitting with an insane amount of rake. Like 4”. Stumped.

Make sure the rear springs are completely seated in the perch.

And if its coilovers in the front maybe you just have them at the wrong setting.

I'm not seeing any coilovers on the KYB site with multiple settings...

Edit: just noticed this thread is over two months old. I guess it wasn't such a big deal after all...

Turns out I had ordered the wrong parts from rock auto. I had bought the front coilovers for a 2wd 4runner.

I realized my error, ordered new parts for a *4wd* 4runner and everything is fine now. We ended up nose high at first. But they’ve settled over the last month and now it looks totally level.

So even though they’re an OEM replacement, the KYB’s definitely lift a bit over stock height in the front. Maybe an inch and a half or so.
