Have already made my decision to get Matte-Black Fuel Vapor wheels and K02 tires for my white 2018 4Runner SR5, but I am honestly stuck between 20" and 18".

The reason I have gravited towards the 20 is because I simply love the way it looks here:

But seeing 20's in person on a 4Runner has made me consider 18. Just a personal opinion that 20s might just be too much wheel, so I'm kinda stuck on my decision.

    What do you guys think?

    1) I do not do any heavy off-roading, but when I go camping 2-3x a year, I will find myself down a bumpy dirt road.
+ I have been considering getting the 4runner lifted, but not anytime soon
+ I also ordered a Gobi Stealth rack that I should be getting in October =)

I've been a lurker on this forum ever since I bought my 4runner, and this is my first post =)

If you're not offroading it really comes down to personal preference. I off-road a few times every week so for me more sidewall is beneficial. That being said, i also prefer the looks of more tire than rim. I think on trucks, jeeps, and 4runners big rims just don't look right... But that's just my personal preference.

A bumpy dirt road is not what i consider offroading... But that's because i live a mile and a half down a bumpy dirt road LOL

    My $.02...

20" wheels do not belong on a 4Runner. I don't care if they came on the vehicle straight from Tahara or otherwise.

20’s with the lower profile tire looks awesome. Just brings the truck up to scale....but it’s lifted in the first pics? I would get chrome or polished/clear coated aluminum...

FYI if you can handle 17" wheels, you will save a lot of money on the wheels & tires forever! From a 17"-18" tires is a big price difference!
Also, unsprung weight is a huge factor.
How often do you want to do ball joints or other maintenance due to heavy wheel tire combo...

Buy what you like. This is just my opinion.

Also, yes. I believe you could get 20" wheels to look appropriate. It would negate a lot of the reason for bigger tires. However, if said vehicle is a mall & concrete queen. I could see it.

I ran 33x12.5r20 on my F-250 with Nitto mud grapplers. Ball joints went out fast. Plus, those tires are loud!

18s might give you a smaller selection of tires, but 20s give you a few tires to pick unless you give yourself more room. I’m not a fan of fuel wheels, but I’d pick 18 over 20. Good luck and I hope they look great.

New here. Just wondering if your 4Runner has a leveling kit or lift of any kind?

I think 20” wheels that come on the Limited look good. I have a 2012, and prefer the newer Limited wheels, but I plan to keep mine. However, the only thing I ever plan to do aftermarket is to level the front and put on some a/t tires that will do better on the beach than what came on the vehicle (I just bought it). I’ll probably never take it anywhere rocky so the 20s are fine performance wise and they match the look of the Limited.

If I had anything other than a Limited and/or was planning to lift or buy a 275-285 tire, I’d go with a 17” wheel. 20” will just look strange on anything that is obviously lifted, because anyone who really needs a lift or a fat tire also probably needs a 17” wheel.

I opened this thread expecting to read that someone traded in their 2018 for a 2020 and now they notice a smell of a fuel vapor in the garage or something lol

Yup... I put a 3" Icon stage II on it. Sooo smooth, huge improvement on and off road.

It looks fantastic! How's the ride compared to factory? I want to lift mine but worried about too stiff of a ride. Do you know the height of your vehicle by chance? Trying to make sure if I lift mine it fits in my 7 foot garage.

    Thank you.!

The ride is amazing..! Huge improvement both on and off road.. feels extremely stable and absorbs bumps so smoothly.
