Rancho suspension, air bags for hauling Moto’s and camping with the kids.
As a kid my best friend got a gen 1, and then the adventure began. I was a moto guy and we had been hauling our Moto’s to races with my buddy’s 22r and laughed that we had $5000.00 in new bikes in the back of a truck he paid half for at the time. We loves that rig, but when he sunk it 10 feet deep in the pond, it was time for something new. He ended up getting a gen one and I said are you high, “where are we going to put our bikes”?

Well, the next two years had so much fun and adventures, I was hooked, and it towed our little bikes just fine in our light weight trailer, but then in winter we had a huge cab, and girls in the back for killer weekends camping with friends.

Fast foreword 20 years I went on to have several Toyota’s all the way up to my 2010 Tundra, and now with 2 boys who also loved adventure, I now needed a vehicle for my oldest as he was turning 16, and something that was easy enough for me to load up and go to Baja. I wanted something that we could work on, was stick, and as we lived in the mountains 4wd. That’s when the 1990 3slow entered our lives.

We got her at 150,000 miles, and those miles were in use miles as her previous owner loved the mountains too. The deal was done, and we were off to have fun. Majors like the head gasket were done, and not much else besides regular maintenance. But we had a 4 Wd, and that was awesome to be back in a 4Runner.

Today, it’s gone through both my sons, back to me, and is now going back to both of them as their adventure rig. I’m psyched to find his thread, I’m mostly a moto guy and this rig is still going to Baja annually on adventures but now with 250,000 on the clock, she needs a little love so my youngest can continue to explore freedom, and my oldest has a vehicle for his dog.

I’m mechanically inclined, but that’s mostly rebuilding motorcycles, we want to keep her mechanically sound and running into the future, thanks for the add here, we appreciate all the help to keep our vision of freedom and adventure alive.
