These things are definitely solid and have a weight to them. They do not feel cheap at all compared to the stock tweeters in my truck. They have a lot of metal to them and feel and look like a quality product. Also, and most importantly, the sound these things put out is way better than with the stock set up. You can easily tell the difference when you hit those high pitches.
Overall, I would recommend replacing your stock tweeters with these if you are looking for a nice, affordable upgrade.
The sound quality is night and day better than the stock tweeters in the Tacoma. I no longer have distortion in the highs coming out of my stereo.
I suggest watching a YouTube video before installing. It helped me a lot.
Definitely worth the money.
Note: only ONE of the two mounting screws will fit. I found the one screw to be enough to keep the tweeter in place, so I’m OK with that. Just realize, again, that only ONE screw will be holding this down.
This thing is likely way more efficiency (sensitive) than the OEM speaker, so highs will sound better, even with the stock head unit. I upgraded to these tweeters along with replacing the door speakers with more-sensitive two-way speakers that seem to match well. I’m not sure how this will sound with the stock speakers. How you like this, as with any speaker, will depend on what you listen to. I find the tweeters have enhanced talk radio (what I listen to 90% of the time) nicely, but I have to adjust the high frequency response down a bit for other music to prevent it from sounding harsh. I’m not upset about this, because I had to adjust the low end of the EQ All the way down to prevent the new door speakers from sounding annoyingly boomy.
As with anything, YMMV as your tastes may be different than mine. I’m very pleased and really wanted to post the information I could NOT find, which is that they are electrically plug-and-play (no adapter required), but one of the two mounting screws isn’t even close to lining up....
Note: they don't quite line up with the factory holes correctly. The driver side was a little good, but the passenger side I tightened one screw all the way into the factory hole and then wedged the other side between the plastic of the car and the hole in the Tweeter casing. If it starts vibrating I'll deal with the issue, but for now it's wedged in there just fine and since it's a high frequency it shouldn't vibrate too much. Good luck!
Sound is excellent!!
Some notes on install:
1. Plastic, interior trim pry tool recommended. But mine was at my office and I was excited and impatient so I used a butter knife with some tape - no problem.
2. Bolts that attach the speaker to the speaker bracket are VERY tight - maybe to ensure they don’t vibrate loose? Easier to remove the entire bracket w/speaker and then work on removing the two speaker bolts. Trust me - otherwise you will bend the bracket. The bracket is thin and is easily bent.
3. The weld nuts on the back of the speaker bracket for the speaker bolts are square with rounded corners. And again, these bolts are insanely tight. The spot welds will make it hard to use a standard or adjustable wrench on the weld nuts and the wrenches won’t hold - that’s how tight these bolts were on. It is best to use vise-grip pliers to hold the weld nut as you loosen the speaker bolt from the speaker bracket.
Other than the extra time it took me to figure out how to get the super tight bolts out, this was very straightforward. Knowing the best process now, I could do this on someone else’s truck in 10 minutes or less for both speakers. And now you know.

Tools required:
-10mm socket and 10mm wrench (the bolt closest to the windshield is too close to the glass to allow a socket so a small crescent wrench is required)
-Car pry tools (plastic to avoid scratching) to pry up the column and speaker covers
0. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Possibly not required but since you are working with wiring and also around the airbags it is probably a good idea.
1. Remove the bolts on the A-Columns. Left side, is under the airbag label. Right side bolts are part of the handle
2. Pull off the covers on the a-columns. Is quite easy, just be firm but gentle and work them out
3. Pry up the plastic covers over the speaker. light and gentle and work around and they will pop off
4. Remove the bolts that hold the speakers down (note what I mentioned about the need for a wrench vs the socket for the bolts closest to the windshield)
5. Pull up the speaker and disconnect the plastic connector (small tab on one side of the connector)
6. Take the new speakers and connect the wiring connector to the speaker in the same manner as the old speaker.
7. Bolt it back down in the same location
8. Press back down the plastic cover
9. replace the column cover and screw the bolts back in
10. replace negative terminal on battery
11. listen to some music!
